Redmi, Xiaomi’s sub-brand, has officially hinted at the launch of a new smartphone in India. This is going to be the first device announcement in the country since the debut of the Redmi Note 15 Pro series in January this year. Here is what we know about this upcoming launch so far.
The latest teaser video on Redmi India’s social media channels carries the tagline of “Suit up. Your Hero Mode is Coming.” This could be a hint at a possible focus on performance or gaming-oriented features.
While the company has not confirmed the name of the upcoming device, the teaser strongly suggests that it could be part of the Redmi R series.
The teaser video also offers a partial look at the smartphone’s design. It appears to feature a dual rear camera setup accompanied by an LED flash, although detailed design elements remain under wraps for now.
More information including the official name and specifications of the device is expected to surface in the coming days. Redmi is also likely to announce the launch date soon.
Meanwhile, Xiaomi has started rolling out its HyperOS 3 update to select Redmi and POCO devices in India. The update is currently being pushed to several smartphones and tablets including the Redmi Note 14 Pro+, Redmi Note 13 Pro+, Redmi Note 13 Pro, Redmi 15C, POCO C85 5G, POCO X6, POCO X7 Pro, Redmi Pad 2 (WiFi + Cellular), Redmi Pad 2 Pro 5G, Redmi Pad SE and POCO Pad M1.
The rollout indicates Xiaomi’s continued focus on enhancing software experience across its ecosystem while preparing for upcoming hardware launches in the Indian market.
