Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra Users Report Camera Shake After June Software Update

Highlights

  • Some Galaxy S25 Ultra users report flickering and jittery camera previews after the June 2025 update.
  • The issue may stem from the ultrawide lens’s focus motor, especially since it lacks OIS. Basic fixes haven’t resolved it for most users.
  • While no official statement has been made, some users have received replacement camera parts under warranty. Visiting a service centre is advised.

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra is facing criticism as some users have started reporting a strange camera issue after a recent software update. The phone’s 200MP camera is one of its biggest highlights, but now, a flickering problem with the ultrawide lens is frustrating users.

The issue was first noticed earlier this year, but it seems to have gotten worse after the June 2025 One UI 7 update (firmware G928U1UEU2BXF7). Here’s what we know so far.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra – Camera Glitch

Recently, an X (formerly Twitter) account named “The Sam #OneUI8” @Samoneui8 posted a video showing what’s happening to a Galaxy S25 Ultra after the last update. The video shows camera preview jitters and this makes photos and videos come out blurry.

Some users on Reddit and Samsung’s official forums have also mentioned hearing a faint rattling sound during the glitch.

While it’s not a widespread issue, it’s not limited to just the S25 Ultra either. A few owners of older models like the Galaxy S24 Ultra have reported the same problem.

Basic fixes like clearing the camera app cache, restarting the phone, or even doing a factory reset haven’t worked for most people. That’s led many to believe it might be a hardware issue, not just a software bug.

Samsung hasn’t made an official statement yet, but some affected users have reportedly received replacement camera parts under warranty. Based on reports, the problem might be caused by the ultrawide lens’s focus motor, especially since this lens doesn’t have optical image stabilisation (OIS).

Meanwhile, Samsung’s support team has also suggested that flickering could be due to indoor lighting, but that doesn’t explain the physical vibration seen in videos.

If you’re dealing with this issue, it’s a good idea to visit a Samsung service centre to check if your device is eligible for a warranty fix. As of now, only a small number of users seem to be affected. But if more cases pop up, Samsung may be forced to take a closer look.

The June update has added smoother animations and new AI features. And since most users aren’t facing any problems, the update itself might not be the main reason.
