Redmi K-series returns to India with launch of Redmi K50i

Redmi has brought back its popular K-series phones in India. The brand launched new Redmi K50i in the country in an online event held on Xiaomi’s YouTube channel on July 20.

The K20 series launched back in 2019 with the K20 and K20 Pro. At the time, the K20 Pro was a sought after device given it offered the top-end Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor for Rs 27,999 with a premium glass design.

The Redmi K50i offers the combined powers of LiquidCool 2.0 and the 2268 mm2 Vapour Chamber with 7 layers of graphite, jitters and lag are things of the past.

RedmiK50i comes with UFS 3.1, to offer three times faster than UFS 3.0 and 14 times faster than UFS 2.1 to experience the latest in smartphone storage technology.

The LPDDR5 RAM in RedmiK50i makes multitasking a breeze. The phone offers 50% higher file transfer speeds, 30% reduction in power consumption, and 40% Increased background process efficiency. The deep sleep mode helps users save power.

Priced under Rs 30,000, RedmiK50i competes against the likes of the Poco F4 5G, iQOO Neo 6, OnePlus Nord 2T 5G, Moto Edge 30, etc.

The Redmi K50i has been launched with a 6.6-inch IPS LCD with a Full HD+ resolution. A 144Hz refresh rate, Dolby Vision and HDR10 is the USP of the Redmi K50i. The smartphone offers a 20.5:9 aspect ratio and a hole-punch cutout at the top centre.

Available in two storage variants, Redmi K50i gets power from a MediaTek Dimensity 8100 SoC. Equipped with a 5080 mAh battery under the hood, Redmi K50i supports 67W fast charging out of the box.

Coming to the camera, Redmi K50i IS equipped with a triple-camera setup, including a 64MP main camera, an 8MP ultrawide camera and a 2MP macro sensor. The Redmi K50i has a 16MP front camera sensor. A side-mounted fingerprint scanner and AI Face Unlock are other features of the Redmi K50i. The newly launched smartphone runs Android 12-based MIUI 13 out of the box.

Supporting 12 5G bands in India, Redmi K50i comes with a 3.5mm headphone jack and dual speakers with Dolby Atmos support. The smartphone weighs around 200 grams and is 8.87mm thick.

Xiaomi has launched the Redmi K50i in 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage and 8GB + 256GB variant. The base variant is priced Rs25,999 while other variant costs Rs 29,999. Redmi K50i will go on starting July 23 via Amazon India, Mi.com, Mi Home Stores, etc. It is available in three colours – Stealth Black, Phantom Blue and Quick Silver.

As part of launch offers, ICICI Bank cardholders can get up to Rs 3,000 on the purchase. Redmi K20 Pro users who exchange their device for the K50i can get Rs 8050 off. With its AnTuTu score 822274, the brand claims Redmi K50i  to be the faster than flagship.
