The historical drama tells Arulmozhi Varman’s story. In the first part, he was shown drowning in the ocean and the second part starts, with him being ill after being saved from the water by Oomai Rani. Karthi and Aishwarya Lakshmi characters Vallavarayan Vandhiyadhevan and Poonguzhali plan to transport him to a Buddhist monastery where he can receive treatment.

In the meantime, Nandini (Aishwarya Rai Bachchan) and the Pandians decide to kill Aditha Karikalan and Sundara Cholar (Prakash Raj) on the same day.

On the pretence of making a deal with Madhurandhagan (Rahman), who had organised a rebellion and claimed the throne of the Chola dynasty, she invites Aditha Karikalan to Kadambur Fort. The story further revolves around this.
