Amazon has officially confirmed that ads are coming to Prime Video in India starting June 17, 2025. If you want to keep watching without interruptions, you’ll now have to pay extra. This move comes after the same change was rolled out in the U.S. back in 2023.

Amazon has started sending emails to Prime members in India, informing them that ads will soon be shown while watching movies, TV shows, web series and other content on Prime Video. The company says these ads will be limited and viewers will see fewer ads than on regular TV channels or other streaming platforms.

If you want to continue watching Prime Video without any ads, you’ll need to buy an additional ad-free plan. This will cost ₹699 per year and ₹129 per month.

It’s important to note that the base price of Amazon Prime membership stays the same.  The latest Amazon Prime Membership fees in India are as follows –

Plan Name Plan Price Time Period Access
Amazon Prime Rs 299 1 month Prime Video With Ads
Amazon Prime Rs 599 3 months Prime Video With Ads
Amazon Prime Rs 1499 12 months Prime Video With Ads

Amazon Prime Shopping Edition Rs 399 12 months No Prime Video
Prime Video Ad-Free Rs 129 1 month Ad-Free Prime Video
Prime Video Ad-Free Rs 699 12 months Ad-Free Prime Video

So, if you want the full ad-free experience, your total cost will now be –

  • ₹2,198 per year (₹1,499 for Prime + ₹699 for ad-free)
  • ₹428 per month (₹299 for Prime + ₹129 for ad-free)

Amazon has confirmed that there are no changes to existing Prime benefits. Members will still get free deliveries, exclusive shopping deals, Prime Music, Prime Reading and more along with access to Prime Video, now with optional ad-free viewing.
