OPPO is gearing up to launch the Reno 16 series with the OPPO Reno 16 and OPPO Reno 16 Pro in China on May 25. As the launch date gets closer, the company has started revealing key details about both devices including their rear camera setup. At the same time, one of the upcoming Reno 16 models has also appeared on Geekbench revealing chipset and performance details ahead of launch.
Apart from the China debut, a new report has also hinted at the India launch timeline for the Reno 16 series.
OPPO has confirmed through an official teaser poster that both the Reno 16 and Reno 16 Pro will feature the same rear camera configuration. The smartphones will be equipped with a 200-megapixel primary camera along with a 50-megapixel ultra-wide sensor, a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto camera, and a smart LED flash module.
Although both devices carry identical megapixel counts, the company has mentioned in the fine print that the camera hardware may differ between the two models.
Reports suggest the camera sensors could be similar to those used in the Reno 15 and Reno 15 Pro lineup.
An OPPO smartphone carrying the model number PMM110 has now surfaced on Geekbench.
The Geekbench listing also reveals that the smartphone features 12GB RAM and runs Android 16 out of the box. In benchmark tests, the device scored 1,611 points in the single-core test and 6,402 points in the multi-core test.
The listing also reveals that the device uses a MediaTek MT6899 chipset featuring one prime core clocked at 3.40GHz, three performance cores running at 3.20GHz, and four efficiency cores operating at 2.20GHz. The chipset is paired with the Mali-G720 MC8 GPU.
Based on these specifications, reports suggest the device could be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8500 chipset. However, some leaks claim it may instead use the newer Dimensity 8550 processor, which is expected to offer similar CPU and GPU architecture with smaller internal upgrades.
According to leaks, the standard OPPO Reno 16 may feature a 6.32-inch OLED display with 1.5K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The smartphone is expected to be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8550 chipset and could pack a 6,700mAh battery with support for 80W fast charging.
Meanwhile, the OPPO Reno 16 Pro is tipped to arrive with a larger 6.78-inch OLED display while retaining the same 1.5K resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. The device is expected to feature the MediaTek Dimensity 9500s processor and a 7,000mAh battery with support for 80W wired charging and 50W wireless charging.
Both smartphones are expected to launch in 12GB + 256GB, 12GB + 512GB, and 16GB + 512GB storage variants. Colour options could include Heartbeat Star (white) and Midnight Black.
The Reno 16 is also tipped to get additional 16GB + 256GB and 16GB + 1TB variants along with a Galaxy Purple colour option. On the other hand, the Reno 16 Pro may arrive in an exclusive Dream Blue shade.
Both smartphones are also expected to support the OPPO Bubble selfie mirror accessory.
According to information shared in 91Mobiles report based on words from industry sources, the OPPO Reno 16 series is expected to launch in India this July. If true, this will be roughly a month after its China debut.
The timeline appears likely since the Reno 14 series also arrived in India around a similar period last year. OPPO typically refreshes its Reno lineup twice every year.
The report further claims that four Reno 16 series models may launch in India. These could include the OPPO Reno 16, Reno 16 Pro, Reno 16 Pro Mini, and Reno 16c. While the Reno 16 Pro Mini and Reno 16c have not yet been officially confirmed, OPPO may continue its strategy of offering multiple Reno variants similar to the Reno 15 lineup that included the Reno 15 Pro Mini and Reno 15c.
