OnePlus has offered an early preview of its upcoming gaming smartphone, the OnePlus Ace 6 Ultra. As of now, the phone is set for its official debut in China later this month. The first look was shared by OnePlus China Predident Lie Jie Louis through a livestream and a post on Weibo as he also discussed the technologies powering the new device. Here’s more on that.
During a recent technical session, President Lie Jie Louis highlighted the company’s efforts to push ultra-high refresh rate performance to new levels. The discussion revolved around enhancing gaming visuals and responsiveness, while also giving viewers a glimpse of the phone’s design that was showcased during the presentation.
The OnePlus Ace 6 Ultra is set to join the existing OnePlus Ace 6 lineup alongside the OnePlus Ace 6T, which was introduced globally as the OnePlus 15R.
This new Ultra variant is positioned as a gaming-centric device featuring a 165Hz display developed in partnership with BOE. According to the company, the screen is designed to deliver “an esports-optimized viewing experience that meets desktop gaming monitor standards”.
In terms of design, the OnePlus Ace 6 Ultra retains similarities with the standard Ace 6 especially in the rear panel and camera module layout. However, it introduces a distinctive “Ace Awakening” colour option that strongly emphasises the Ace branding.
This variant features a black back panel with a large reflective Ace logo placed prominently at the centre.
OnePlus revealed that this unique finish is achieved using an “all-new 3D laser-etching process” that creates a striking visual effect. The company further explains that the reflective logo is produced through a method that “literally engraves light into the device”.
On the hardware front, the OnePlus Ace 6 Ultra is expected to be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 processor. This would mark a shift from the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset used in the standard Ace 6 model.
Leaks suggest the device could sport a 6.8-inch display with the aforementioned 165Hz refresh rate alongwith a large 8,500mAh battery supporting up to 100W wired charging.
The company has not yet confirmed pricing or global availability. More details about the OnePlus Ace 6 Ultra are likely to be revealed at its official launch event in China later this month.
Interestingly, Lie Jie Louis also hinted that the smartphone will not launch alone. The event is expected to introduce a mysterious “new form factor product” though no further details have been shared so far.
