Xiaomi has officially listed its latest budget 5G smartphones, the Redmi R70 5G and Redmi R70m 5G, on its China website. The two devices share a largely identical design and features including a large display, dual-SIM 5G connectivity and similar camera hardware. However, they differ when it comes to battery capacity and memory configurations with the Redmi R70m 5G offering a bigger battery and higher RAM options. Here’s everything you need to know about the newly launched devices.
Both Redmi R70 5G and Redmi R70m 5G are currently listed for purchase via the Xiaomi China website.
The Redmi R70 5G is priced starting at CNY 1,599 (approximately Rs. 21,900) for the 4GB RAM and 128GB storage variant. It is also available in 6GB + 128GB, 6GB + 256GB and 8GB + 256GB configurations.
On the other hand, the Redmi R70m 5G starts at CNY 1,799 (roughly Rs. 24,600) for the 6GB + 128GB model. Buyers can also choose from 6GB + 256GB, 8GB + 256GB and 12GB + 256GB variants.
Both smartphones are available in Cold Mist Blue, Feather Mist Purple, Feather Mist White and Star Rock Black colour options.
The Redmi R70 5G and Redmi R70m 5G come equipped with a 6.9-inch HD (720×1600 pixels) LCD display that supports up to a 120Hz refresh rate and a 240Hz touch sampling rate. The panel offers up to 800 nits of brightness, a 1500:1 contrast ratio alongwith DC dimming and Wet Hand Touch 2.0 support for improved usability in different conditions.
Under the hood, both devices are powered by the Unisoc T8300 chipset based on a 6nm process coupled with a Mali G57 GPU. They are paired with LPDDR4x RAM and UFS 2.2 storage and run on Xiaomi HyperOS 3. For photography, both models feature a 13-megapixel primary rear camera and an 8-megapixel front-facing camera for selfies and video calls.
The key difference between both models is in battery specifications. The Redmi R70 5G packs a 6,000mAh battery, while the Redmi R70m 5G comes with a larger 6,300mAh battery. Both smartphones support 15W fast charging and 7.5W wired reverse charging.
For connectivity, the phones support 5G, 4G, 3G, and 2G networks alongwith Wi-Fi 5, Wi-Fi 4, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, GPS, Galileo, QZSS, BeiDou and a USB Type-C port. They also include sensors such as an accelerometer, electronic compass, virtual light sensor and virtual proximity sensor.
In terms of dimensions, each handset measures 171.56 x 79.47 x 8.15mm and weighs 210g.
