Motorola Edge 40 Pro: Launch window and European pricing leak for Moto X40 global model
Motorola may have recently launched a raft of entry-level and mid-range smartphones, but its current premier smartphone remains without a global release. That could soon change, according to Appuals, which has also revealed alleged pricing for the device.
For reference, Motorola introduced the Moto G13, Moto G23, Moto G53 5G and Moto G73 5G last week, as well as the Moto E13.
Meanwhile, Appuals claims that the Moto X40 will launch globally as the Motorola Edge 40 Pro, which was already to be expected considering the path that the Edge X30 took to market outside China. The website adds that Motorola will offer the Edge 40 Pro in the same colourways as the Moto X40, shown below.
Seemingly, Motorola has made no design changes, with identical-looking front and rear panels.
The Edge 40 Pro should debut during this year’s Mobile World Congress (MWC), which runs between February 27 and March 2.
Motorola has not confirmed whether this will be the case, but parent company Lenovo is listed as one of the exhibitors at MWC 2023.
Regardless, Appuals reports that the Edge 40 Pro will launch for €849 with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage.
In other words, the Edge 40 Pro will be €50 more expensive than its predecessor.
A North American release has not been mentioned yet, but we would not be surprised if Motorola reused the Edge Plus name as the Edge Plus (2023).

The Moto Edge 40 Pro launch is expected early next month and leaked renders have revealed the phone’s design.
The device is expected to be launched at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2023, which will be held in Barcelona from February 27th to March 2nd.
The latest rumours come courtesy of a tipster, which showcases the design renders of the Moto Edge 40 Pro.
Earlier, the same source had posted about colour and storage options on the new Motorola smartphone and suggested it could bear a price tag of EUR 850 (~ Rs 72,263) in European markets.
Moto Edge 40 Pro Design Highlights
The Moto Edge 40 Pro renders, as per the report, show off two colour variants – Black and Blue.
The Moto Edge 40 Pro will be the rebranded version of the Moto X40 that was launched earlier in China. The design on the Moto Edge 40 Pro hence looks familiar.
The design renders highlight the 3D curved front display panel, a metal frame that wraps around the body and a frosted glass back.
The front camera sensor is housed in a hole punch cut out at the top centre of the display.
The rear camera system with its triple sensor setup is housed in a rounded square.
The Moto Edge 40 Pro gets its volume rockers and power button on the right edge while the bottom edge can be seen to house the speaker grilles and the charging sport.
Moto Edge 40 Pro Specifications
The Moto Edge 40 Pro will get a 6.67-inch curved OLED display with an FHD+ resolution, 165Hz high refresh rate and DC dimming support. The device will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor and is expected to be paired with 12GB of RAM and 2356GB of internal storage. The Edge 40 Pro will run on Android 13 OS.
The Moto Edge 40 Pro will get a triple camera system consisting of a 50MP main camera, a 50MP wide-angle camera and a 12MP telephoto sensor. The front camera duties will be taken care of by a 60MP snapper.
The Edge 40 Pro will sip juice from a 4,600mAh battery with support for 125W wired fast charging and 15W wireless charging.
The device will get an in-display optical fingerprint scanner for biometric security.
