However, the company seemingly backtracked on that decision by launching the Meizu 21 Pro flagship smartphone.
Now, another handset from Meizu is on its way, and the company has confirmed the launch date along with some key specifications.
The Meizu 21 Note will be unveiled on May 16, and it will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset from Qualcomm.
Additionally, the device will feature a whopping 16GB of RAM, catering to power users and multitasking enthusiasts.
The other big feature of the Meizu 21 Note would be its huge 5,500mAh battery, promising extended use times between charges.
The device will also sport a 1.5K display with a smooth 144Hz refresh rate for a fluid and responsive visual experience.
Talking about cameras, reports suggest that the Meizu 21 Note will feature a 50MP Sony primary camera sensor—IMX882—aided with OIS for better performance in low-light conditions and reduced blur.
There will be an 8MP ultra-wide camera and a 16MP selfie shooter as well.
Apart from that, rumored features of the Meizu 21 Note include a glass back design, NFC (support for contactless payments), dual speakers for a more enriched audio experience, and IP53 rating for basic dust and water resistance.
Meizu, which had to exit the smartphone market earlier, had announced its decision to be away from the market.
Still, the launch of the Meizu 21 Note refers to the fact that the company, for now, does not want to back away from its smartphone business.
However, pricing and availability details for the device remain unknown, and it will be a China-exclusive release.
