Leica LUX App
German camera maker Leica has acquired the LUX camera app, which was co-developed by Fjorden, and plans to launch a Leica-branded camera grip case for the upcoming iPhone 15 and iPhone 16 series.
For iPhone users, this development offers the opportunity to enjoy Leica’s renowned imaging capabilities on the smartphones they already own, at no extra cost.
The Leica LUX app offers free access with additional features available through a subscription.
Users can unlock premium features such as Leica looks, lenses, manual focus, exposure control, and Bayer RAW capture by paying a monthly fee of Rs 575 or an annual fee of Rs 6,900.
Designed and co-developed by Leica and Fjorden, the app provides authentic Leica color science, aperture mode with Leica Lens simulations, and the ability to capture pictures using the shutter button on the Fjorden Grip case, although it is not fully compatible for now.
Leica has confirmed that Fjorden will continue to produce cases for iPhones, including the upcoming iPhone 16 model, and will also launch a new Leica LUX-branded case designed by Fjorden.
This move follows the trend of smartphone brands like Huawei and Xiaomi enjoying exclusive Leica branding on their flagship smartphones, allowing iPhone users to benefit from Leica’s expertise without having to purchase a separate device.
