Jeff Bezos
The founder of Amazon, Jeff Bezos, has reclaimed his position as the richest person on the planet, according to Bloomberg’s ranking of billionaires.
His current net worth is a mind-boggling $210 billion, thanks to Amazon’s shares soaring almost 25% since the start of 2024, adding $32.6 billion to Bezos’ fortune.
In January, his wealth stood at $178 billion, which was still an astronomical sum.
Bezos’ massive wealth comes mainly from his 9% stake in Amazon, the e-commerce giant he started back in 1994 with a vision that revolutionised shopping.
Besides Amazon, he also owns the space company Blue Origin, which contributes to his riches.
Over the years, Amazon has grown into one of the biggest and most powerful online retailers worldwide, thanks to Bezos’ entrepreneurial spirit and strategic leadership.
Forbes had previously reported Bezos’ net worth to be around $191 billion in February 2024, placing him third on the global rich list at that time.
Amazon’s incredible success, with its market value exceeding $1.7 trillion, has been the driving force behind Bezos’ fortunes.
His ownership stake in the e-commerce behemoth, combined with other investments like Blue Origin, have cemented his position among the wealthiest individuals on Earth.
In Amazon’s early days, Bezos focused on building warehouses and expanding the company’s e-commerce capabilities, helping it become a global powerhouse operating in major markets like India, China, Japan, and Brazil.
Diversifying into new products and services such as Amazon Web Services has also fuelled the company’s spectacular growth over the years.
Bezos is renowned for his customer-centric approach, fostering a culture of innovation and creativity at Amazon while adapting swiftly to changing market conditions.
While Bezos tops the rich list currently, French tycoon Bernard Arnault, CEO of luxury brand LVMH, follows close behind with $205 billion.
In third place is Elon Musk, the maverick founder of Tesla, with a net worth of $198 billion.
Completing the top five are Meta’s Mark Zuckerberg at $180 billion and Google co-founder Larry Page with $157 billion in wealth.
It’s been a fluctuating ride for the world’s richest, but for now, Jeff Bezos reigns supreme.
Jeff Bezos’ net worth has reached $210 billion, making him the richest person in the world according to Bloomberg’s billionaires ranking.
The primary contributor to Bezos’ regained title is the nearly 25% increase in Amazon’s shares since the start of 2024, adding $32.6 billion to his wealth.
In addition to Amazon, Jeff Bezos owns Blue Origin, a space exploration company, which also adds to his substantial wealth.
