“There is already a growing number of people who believe, as I do, that it will be more practical to fingerprint real media than fake media. Camera manufacturers could cryptographically sign images at capture, creating a chain of custody,” Mosseri suggested.

Apple has updated its vintage products list by adding several older devices including the final Intel-powered 13-inch MacBook Air, the Apple Watch Series 5 and the iPhone 11 Pro. The iPhone 11 Pro joins the list a few months after the iPhone 11 Pro Max was classified as vintage in September.

The last Intel-based MacBook Air was launched in March 2020.
