As per the IMEI listing, the Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G has the model number 24090RA29G, while the POCO X7 is identified by model number 24095PCADG.

Tech DIY video YouTube channel Mod and Shoot blends smartphone and mirrorless camera functionalities.
Xiaomi previously showcased a similar concept smartphone based on the Xiaomi 12S Ultra.
Xiaomi’s concept phone featured a mount for Leica M lenses and an exposed 1” sensor.

Tech DIY is not something that we get to explore often. However, sometimes we come across a tutorial online that feels motivating enough to try our hands at achieving the next level of technological upgrade.
Before we get to the tutorial, let’s go down the memory lane for a bit.
Back in 2022, Xiaomi revealed a concept smartphone with a mount for Leica M lenses based on the Xiaomi 12S Ultra.
Xiaomi’s concept smartphone cum mirrorless camera hybrid based on the Xiaomi 12S Ultra. (Image credit – Xiaomi)Xiaomi 12S Ultra after the mounted mirrorless camera. (Image Credit – Xiaomi)
What looked like a hybrid between a smartphone and a mirrorless camera, Xiaomi’s idea had an exposed 1” sensor and a mount for removable lenses.
The idea was fascinating. However, it only remained a concept and regular consumers never got to experience it in an available product.
Now, a video tutorial on YouTube from the channel Mod and Shoot demonstrates something similar that users can create themselves. Provided, you have enough tech DIY skills.
In the YouTube video, the creator of this mod does a similar modification on a Sharp Aquos R6.
The Sharp Aquos R6’s camera module with its model lens. (Image credit – GSM Arena)
Sharp Aquos R6 is a higher-resolution 47MP 1” sensor and can shoot 8K video.
We also get to see how the phone’s original 19mm Leica Summicron lens was swapped out for a C mount. This type of mount was originally used on 16mm cameras and is now more common in security cameras.
The video shows that with the right adapter, this setup can use lenses from many other cameras.
However, it is important to note that there are two main issues with this concept: one is the obvious added bulk and two is the fact that autofocus doesn’t work. Basically, with this camera setup, you will have to focus manually.
For more, check out Mod and Shoot’s Instagram. The channel has posted some videos and photos taken with the modified R6.

iPhone 16 Pro to Have ProRAW Photos in JPEG-XL Format.
16 Pro can now shoot 4K video at 120 frames per second.
All iPhone 16 Models to Have 8GB RAM, Confirms Apple’s Johny Srouji.
iPhone 16’s A18 Pro Outperforms M1 Chip.

Srouji explained: “When you look at the single-thread of performance core across all of our silicon, it’s the absolute best in the industry. We’re leading the industry. If you look at the efficiency cores, same, we’re at the absolute best. We’re leading in a big way. And then when we look at the configuration, whether it’s a silicon that goes into the iPhone or the iPad or the Mac, we have lots of simulation and performance modeling tools, and we look at actual data. And then we take into account, for example, the battery size for a product, the power delivery system for a product, the thermal envelope for the product, because overbuilding, again, is wasteful. For example, for the phone, we came to the conclusion that two P4E, so two performance cores and four efficiency cores, meets the needs of what that device requires, because we have the absolute best single-thread, and the efficiency cores are so good for other tasks, and that configuration works.”
iPhone 16 Pro to Have ProRAW Photos in JPEG-XL Format
In a recent 9to5Mac report, it has now been confirmed that iPhone 16 Pro ProRAW settings will have the option of JPEG-XL images.
The 9to5Mac team has seen the code in the firmware to make the confirmation public.
Capturing pictures in JPEG-XL format will allow users to compress the RAW images. It will generate smaller files without compromising on quality.
This feature will be an added advantage for professional photographers. It supports modern standards including transparency, HDR, and wider colour gamut.
The iPhone 16 Pro will have the following options image format options –
JPEG Lossless (Most Compatible)
JPEG-XL Lossy
JPEG-XL Lossless
Storage for each format takes up –
11 MB for JPEG-XL Lossy ProRAW at 12 MP
18 MB for JPEG-XL Lossless ProRAW at 12 MP
20 MB for JPEG-XL Lossy ProRAW at 48 MP
46 MB for JPEG-XL Lossless ProRAW at 48 MP
To compare, a 48MP ProRAW photo taken on the iPhone 15 Pro takes up around 75MB.
It is important to note that only iPhone 16 Pro models can take JPEG-XL photos.
However, Apple devices running iOS 17 and later version or macOS 14 and later can view images in this format.
The Pro model camera can also feature the next-generation Photographic Styles with real-time adjustments to colour, highlights, and shadows.
Amongst the new features, iPhone 16 Pro also has a new 48-megapixel ultra-wide lens.
All iPhone 16 Models to Have 8GB RAM, Confirms Apple’s Johny Srouji
Apple’s senior vice president of hardware technologies Johny Srouji in an interview with Geekerwan. (Image Credit – Geekerwan)
During the interview with Geekerwan, Apple’s senior vice president of hardware technologies Johny Srouji explained that Apple Intelligence was one of the reasons for the RAM increase.
He further noted that other aspects of the iPhone will also benefit from upgraded RAM.
Srouji explains, “Our goal is to build the best products, delivering the absolute best user experience. As it relates to Apple Intelligence, DRAM is one aspect.
And when we look at what we’re building, whether it’s silicon, hardware, or software, we don’t want to be wasteful in many ways.
We have lots of data that tells us what is going to enable a certain feature, and Apple Intelligence is one of those very, very important features that we want to enable.
And we look at different configurations, both for computation and memory bandwidth and memory capacity.
And then we make the right trade-off and balance of what actually makes the most sense. So, Apple Intelligence was a major feature that led us to believe that we need to get to 8GB.
But having said that, the 8GB is going to help immensely among other applications, including gaming, high-end gaming, AAA-titled games, and high-end gaming on device. So, I think it’s going to be really, really beneficial.
The other thing to keep in mind, this is one of the benefits of having the software and the silicon and the product fully integrated, is that the software team, our excellent software team, will optimize not only for compute, they’ll also optimize for the memory footprint of each application. So, they don’t end up also wasting memory.
So, we look at all these trade-offs and we end up with, here’s what makes sense, and 8 gigabytes was the most perfect choice for us.”

iPhone 16’s A18 Pro Outperforms M1 Chip
A18 Pro’s Geekbench result.
While the first Geekbench results for the iPhone 16 were a bit underwhelming, we now have new benchmarks offering more promising results for Apple’s latest A18 Pro chip.
The latest Geekbench result comes from the iPhone17,1. This is reportedly the model identifier for the iPhone 16 Pro.
Powered by the A18 Pro chip, this model showed a single-core score of 3429 and a multi-core score of 8790.
Here’s how we can analyse these results –
A 15-20% increase in speed compared to the iPhone 15 Pro’s A17 Pro chip
A 30-35% jump from the A16 Bionic chip in the standard iPhone 15.
A18 Pro vs. Apple’s M1 Chip
The results also show how the A18 Pro chip is approaching the performance levels of Apple’s M1 chip.
The A18 Pro outperforms the M1 chip in most Geekbench tests.
To compare, the average multi-core score for the M1 chip in the iPad Air is around 8351, based on the latest 10 results. The A18 Pro’s score is 8790. This is about 5% higher than that.
While this is only one test compared to the average of several M1 results, it’s still impressive.

What is iPhone 16 Hiked Battery Replacement Cost ?
Apple has updated its iPhone Repair & Service page and out of the many things to take note of, increased battery replacement cost is getting the most attention.
The newly launched iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max will now cost you $119 (INR 11,800) for out-of-warranty battery replacement.
To compare, this is an increase of almost $20 (approx INR 1700) from the current repair fee the brand charges for replacing out-of-warranty batteries of the iPhone 15 lineup.
iPhone 15 series battery replacements cost $99 (INR 9,800).
However, it is interesting to note that the battery replacements on iPhone 16 will still have
the lower $99 (Approx INR 8300) repair fee.
For iPhones that are under AppleCare+, all replacements will be free of charge.
Is there Less Demand for iPhone 16 Pro & 48% Jump in iPhone 16 Plus Pre-Orders ?
In other news, we have iPhone 16 series pre-order analysis results shared by Analyst Ming Chi-Kuo over the weekend. Kuo’s analysis only cements the previous prediction by many experts regarding the dwindling demand for new iPhones.
According to Kuo, Apple this year is facing less demand for the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max, something already predicted.
However, what many experts might have missed is iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus are performing better than expected on the pre-order window. Apple is seeing more sales compared to last year’s iPhone base models.
Kuo’s analysis was based on ship times on Apple’s website and a “supply chain survey.”
Here are the key findings of Kuo’s analysis –
● iPhone 16 Pro Max demand is down by 16% from last year.
● iPhone 16 Pro demand is down by 27% from last year.
● iPhone 16 Plus demand is up by 48% from last year.
● iPhone 16 demand is up by 10% from last year.
● The iPhone 16 series sold around 37 million units altogether.
This number for whole iPhone 16 Series unit sales is down by 12.7% from the iPhone 15 lineup on the first weekend.
It appears more people are interested in getting their hands on a regular iPhone than the pros models.
As for the supply side, Kuo highlighted that 6 million units of iPhone 16 Pro Max were produced before launch.
This is up by 106% from the number of units Apple produced for the precious iPhone 15 Pro Max mode. The increased supply of units is due to higher yields on the tetraprism camera (5x telephoto).
Kuo suggested that Apple could move in a more aggressive manner for its 2025 strategies if dwindling demands for iPhone 16 continue.
Apple has increased the out-of-warranty battery replacement cost for iPhone 16 Pro models.
Now costs $119 (INR 11,800), up from $99 (INR 9,800) for the iPhone 15 series.
The higher cost is attributed to the new metal shell used in the iPhone 16 Pro batteries.
Pre-Order Trends: Lower demand for iPhone 16 Pro models, and higher-than-expected pre-orders for iPhone 16 and 16 Plus.

MacRumors was probably the first one to hint at a possible battery replacement cost hike for new iPhones. We have now received an official confirmation that Apple will indeed charge more than it has ever before to replace the battery of newly launched iPhone 16 Pro models.
This is obviously with respect to the out-of-warranty iPhone 16 batteries only.

Reasons For Increase in Battery Replacement Cost
iPhone 16 Pro models reportedly use metal shell cases on batteries for better thermal performance. (Image credit – Apple)
As per a recent 9to5 report, the primary reason behind increased repair costs for iPhone 16 Pro modes could be the metal shell used on the batteries.
It was previously rumoured that Apple is using metal shells on the batteries of the new iPhone 16 Pro models.
The metal casing is supposed to improve in thermal performance of the phone. As per certain media reports, Apple has used the new battery manufacturing model only on the Pro models.
Battery Replacement Cost for Previous iPhones
The last time Apple increased the battery replacement cost for its phones was with the launch of the iPhone 14 series. The brand had made a jump in costs from $69 (INR 5800) to $99 (Approx INR 8300).
Soon after that cost jump, Apple went ahead and increased the battery replacement of previous iPhone models from $69 (INR 5800) to $89 (INR 7500).
Here’s how much it will take to get a battery replacement for the previous iPhone after the recent cost hike –

Realme’s Vice President, Chase Xu, recently shared a video on Weibo. In the video, he can be seen holding an unrecognisable Realme phone. Though what actually was the purpose of the video was to demonstrate a camera button positioned exactly where it is on the iPhone 16.
Posting the video, Chase Xu wrote, “We seem to have solid-state button technology, do you want it?” (Translated from Chinese to English via Google Translate)
This could mean two things. One could be that Realme has quickly followed Apple’s lead in offering a similar feature. Or the could be that a similar feature was already in the works at Realme, which seems rather unlikely given Realme’s history of picking features.
Is Apple the Trendsetter in the Smartphone Industry?
Anyhow, sharing this video, what Realme actually demonstrated is how Apple’s innovations continue to shape industry trends.
Note that Apple isn’t always the first to introduce new features. We cannot deny how many Apple firsts later turn them into industry standards.
A good example is the iPhone X’s notch. The feature at first was met with criticism. However, it was soon adopted by many Android manufacturers as well.
Now, can we expect the Apple’s iPhone 16 camera button to be the next trendsetter?
Also, we can’t exactly say that physical camera buttons are something entirely new. Sony has included them in some of its phones for years.
However, what’s interesting is that Apple’s version is different.
The iPhone 16’s camera button is touch-sensitive and provides tactile feedback. It makes clicking photos look easier and intuitive. This button allows users to control focus and zoom smoothly. This can be a great added feature for a hands-on photography experience.
Realme Taking Inspiration From Apple?

In Xu’s video, we can see Realme’s version of the camera button operates much like the Apple button. It is positioned similarly. Users can adjust focus and zoom with a simple press. It also provides the same tactile response that Apple’s version provides.
Realme has a history of taking inspiration from Apple devices.
Last year, the company launched the Realme C55 with a feature called Mini Capsule.
Users were quick to find similarities with Apple’s Dynamic Island.
However, Realme’s Mini Capsule doesn’t have the same level of functionality. It only mimics the design from Apple. It shows notifications around the selfie camera in a similar way.
Smartphone makers from China such as Realme, Xiaomi, and Huawei are especially quick at adopting trends whether it is an Apple feature or any other feature gaining momentum in the international market.
There’s no word yet on which Realme model the recently demonstrated Camera Button will feature in.
It will be interesting to see if dedicated Camera Buttons on smartphones become the next big thing.
Realme Teases ‘Camera Control’ Button Clone
Realme’s next big release is GT 7 Pro, which won’t include the camera button as we know it.
While we wait for more information on the Realme camera button, we can guess it to make an appearance in some midrange or budget Realme phones, following the trend of Mini Capsule.
