Samsung Adds HDR Toggle and Improved Photo Sharing In Galaxy Ecosystem Features in One UI 7

It appears Samsung has addressed some common issues including controlling HDR brightness and improving device integration with One UI 7. While the HDR toggle is live for beta users, features like camera continuity are still in progress but hold great promise for Galaxy users. Here’s everything we know about both features as per recent reports.

Turn Off Brightness HDR with One UI 7

HDR content can be stunning but watching it in a dark room late at night can feel like staring into the sun. Until now, Android users haven’t had a way to turn off HDR content system-wide. With Samsung’s One UI 7, Galaxy users finally get this much-needed option.

A new toggle in the Settings > Advanced features > Super HDR section allows users to disable “Super HDR.”

Samsung describes this feature as saying, “Automatically adjust the display to show the full range of colours and contrast in pictures taken with Galaxy devices.”

While the description might seem vague, this toggle works system-wide reducing the brightness of HDR content in all apps and not just Samsung’s Gallery app. It’s even effective in third-party apps like Instagram, although you might need to restart the app after changing the setting for it to take effect.

A recent Android Authority report explains that Samsung’s “Super HDR” is based on Google’s “Ultra HDR” format used by many third-party apps and other brands. This means the toggle affects all HDR content and not just photos taken on Galaxy devices.

For now, this feature is available only on One UI 7, Samsung’s Android 15 update is currently in beta for the Galaxy S24 series. Samsung plans to roll out the update to more devices in 2025 likely including this HDR toggle.

Easily Share Photos Between Galaxy Phones and Galaxy Books With One UI 7

Samsung is also enhancing its ecosystem integration with a new feature in One UI 7 that simplifies sharing photos between Galaxy phones and Galaxy Books.

According to a recent Android Authority report, the update introduces “camera continuity,” a tool that lets users paste recently taken photos directly from their Galaxy phone into apps like Samsung Notes or Samsung Internet on Galaxy Books. This is especially useful for scanning documents or sending handwritten notes without using Quick Share or other file-sharing tools.

image

The feature will live under the “continue on other devices” settings in One UI 7. It expands on existing perks like text copying and Wi-Fi sharing between Galaxy devices.

Currently, camera continuity isn’t fully functional. While it’s available on Galaxy S phones running the One UI 7 beta, it hasn’t yet made its way to Galaxy Book devices.

However, it promises a smoother workflow across Samsung’s ecosystem once fully implemented.

Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Series Look Revealed, Galaxy S25 Ultra’s “Blue” Colour Leaked

Highlights

  • New leaks reveal key design details for the Galaxy S25 series.
  • It shows a curved design for the S25 Ultra and larger black borders around the cameras.
  • The Galaxy S25 Ultra’s new “blue” colour shade leaked.
  • Samsung is expected to officially unveil the Galaxy S25 series on January 22.

New leaks have revealed key details about the design of the Galaxy S25 series with just weeks to go before Samsung’s January 22 launch event. The reveal from dbrand skin listings is giving us the clearest look yet at Samsung’s upcoming flagship lineup. So, basically we now have a closer view of the Galaxy S25, S25+ and S25 Ultra designs.

While dbrand’s skins cover the original colours of these phones, the renders showcase key design elements like the camera module and overall build.

image
Skin company dbrand has published its listings for the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+, and Galaxy S25 Ultra.

One of the most noticeable changes is the curved design of the Galaxy S25 Ultra. Moving away from the squared-off edges inspired by the Galaxy Note series, this year’s Ultra features rounded corners that align with the rest of the Galaxy S lineup.

When it comes to colour, Samsung seems to be playing it safe with its new “blue” colourway for the Galaxy S25 Ultra. Leaked by Ice Universe, the so-called blue shade is so subtle it appears closer to grey.

Samsung has dabbled in subtle and pastel shades before particularly in its Samsung.com exclusives. However, this new tone takes subtlety to the extreme making even Google Pixel’s soft pastel hues look bold by comparison.

In a mockup by 9to5Google, based on leaked renders from dbrand, the “blue” appears to have only the faintest hint of blue over an otherwise grey base.

FAQs

Q1. What new design feature is notable in the Galaxy S25 Ultra?

Answer. The Galaxy S25 Ultra has moved away from squared-off edges and features rounded corners, aligning with the rest of the Galaxy S lineup. It also has a subtle “blue” colour that appears closer to grey.

Apple has joined Google in the ongoing antitrust case with the US Government to protect their $20 billion annual deal that makes Google the default search engine on Apple devices.

Apple has argued that this partnership is important for both companies and breaking it could harm consumers alongside the business.

In court documents filed on Monday, Apple reiterated that it has no plans to develop its own search engine due to the risks and costs involved.

The company emphasised that its partnership with Google benefits consumers by offering them access to the most popular search engine.

Apple also argued that making Google available on its devices without compensation would lead to a “perverse result” giving Google an unfair advantage.

Moreover, Apple noted that this deal accounts for around 16% of its operating income for the fiscal year ending September.

Apple’s decision to enter the case comes as Google faces increasing pressure from the Department of Justice, which is pushing for remedies that could include breaking up Google’s business units such as Chrome and Android. Google has proposed ending exclusive agreements like its deal with Apple to avoid further penalties.

However, Apple contends that this would negatively impact both companies and reduce consumer options.

The penalty phase is set for April 2025 and will determine the future of this high-stakes partnership.

Apple plans to call witnesses during this phase underscoring the significance of the deal to its business and to consumer choice.

This legal battle could reshape the dynamics of the online search market and analysts warn that losing this revenue-sharing deal could severely affect Apple’s financial performance.

The outcome could redefine one of Silicon Valley’s most profitable collaborations.

FAQs

Q1. Why has Apple joined Google’s antitrust battle with the U.S. government?

Answer. Apple aims to protect their $20 billion annual deal that makes Google the default search engine on Apple devices, arguing that dismantling it could harm consumers and its own business.

Q2. What does Apple say about its partnership with Google in court documents?

Answer. Apple maintains that its partnership with Google benefits consumers by offering them access to the most popular search engine and argued that making Google available on its devices without compensation would lead to a “perverse result.”

Q3. When is the penalty phase of the Google antitrust case set?

Answer. The penalty phase is set for April 2025 and will determine the future of the high-stakes partnership between Apple and Google, potentially reshaping the dynamics of the online search market.
