Netflix is giving its homepage a major redesign and it’s set to change how you browse, discover, and choose what to watch. While Netflix has made small tweaks to its interface before, this is the first big shake-up in a long time and is now touted as the biggest UI redesign for the platform in years.
The company says this fresh new look will roll out over the next weeks and months, offering a more streamlined and user-friendly experience.
In a press preview, Netflix’s Chief Product Officer Eunice Kim and Chief Technology Officer Elizabeth Stone described the update as more flexible and better aligned with how people actually use the platform today. Navigation is being simplified, title info will be easier to see and recommendations will adapt more closely to your preferences and mood.
“The new Netflix TV experience is still the one you know and love — just better,” said Kim.
Speaking on how Netflix uses tech, Stone said, “One of the reasons I joined (and why I stay) is because this company has always had a unique ability to marry incredible tech with incredible entertainment. That’s our superpower. Obviously, everything starts with great shows and movies that people love. But if you think about all of the areas where Netflix has a big advantage — our reach, our recommendations, our fandom — tech enables all those things.”
Kim further explained, “When we first started thinking about this project, we wanted to create an experience that was more flexible for our broad entertainment offerings, more intuitive and responsive to our members’ needs, and capable of elevating the most thrilling moments on Netflix.”
Netflix Redesign – What’s New?
In a detailed press note, Netflix shared what all users can expect from the new design –

Easier Discovery – Netflix wants to help you pick what to watch faster. You’ll now see more relevant details right up front including headers like “Emmy Award Winner” or “#1 in TV Shows” will help you quickly figure out why a title might be worth your time.
More Obvious Shortcuts – The Search and My List buttons used to be tucked away on the side. They’re now moving to the top of the screen, making them easier to find and use.
Smarter Recommendations – The homepage will now better reflect your current mood and viewing habits, serving up shows and movies that are more in tune with what you want at the moment.
Cleaner Look – The new homepage design is clean, modern, and meant to offer what Netflix calls an “elevated experience.”
Netflix Mobile – What’s New?
Meanwhile, the Mobile experience is also getting a boost. Following are some of the new features Netflix is also bringing to mobile –

Smarter Search with AI – They’re testing a new generative AI-powered search tool on iOS (currently in beta) that lets you search using natural phrases like, “I want something funny and upbeat.” This should make finding something to watch even easier.

Vertical Video Feed – In the coming weeks, Netflix will test a vertical feed filled with short clips from shows and movies, similar to TikTok or Instagram Reels. You can tap a clip to start watching, add it to My List, or share it with friends right away.
Stone later added, “What’s most exciting to me is how our new TV experience gives us the ability to evolve and innovate more easily going forward. That’s how we’re going to make the Netflix people know even better. And it’s how we’ll continue to connect them with even more shows, movies and games they’ll love.”
