Rooter bags media rights deal for Skyesports

0

Rooter, an Indian game streaming platform, revealed today that it had purchased the media rights to all of Skyesports’ IPs for the next year, in one of the largest media rights agreements in esports history. Skyesports is South Asia’s largest esports tournament organiser, with competitions held under its own IPs.

All of Skyesports’ unique competitions will be televised exclusively on Rooter in the future. The events will be streamed in Hindi, English, Tamil, Bengali, Kannada, Malayalam, and Telugu, in keeping with Skyesports’ and Rooter’s goal of making esports and game streaming as accessible as possible. Viewers who tune in to Skyesports tournaments on Rooter will also be eligible for exclusive rewards.

Rooter

Rooter, dubbed the “Twitch of India,” already has a large user base in India, with over 35 million downloads on Google Play and Apple’s App Stores. By leveraging Skyespots’ massive audience base, the platform will be able to further delve into the esports market. Skyesports attracted more than 200 million viewers across all of its competitions last year, with the Skyesports Championship 3.0 BGMI Finals setting a new concurrent viewership record of 221,000.

Throughout the year, Rooter will produce new material based on Skyesports’ IPs to provide fans with more amusement.

Dipesh Agarwal, Co-Founder and COO, Rooter said, “Skyesports is renowned for hosting some of the major esports tournaments in the country. Teaming up with a platform redefining Indian esports, this comes as a landmark deal for both entities. Rooter is the fastest growing gaming platform in India and we will help Skyesports reach millions of fans who will get the best esports content exclusively on Rooter. We also look forward to working with Shiva and the rest of the team to provide multiple engagement opportunities for fans with esports teams on Rooter’s platform.”

Shiva Nandy, Founder and CEO, Skyesports said, “Our goal has always been to make Skyesports’ IPs, which have been homegrown in India, more accessible. I am sure that our esports content will feel right at home on Rooter’s platform. Additionally, by distributing the media rights, we are empowering Rooter to implement strategies to further engage our already large audience. We look forward to closely working with them throughout the year to enhance the watching experience for the viewers while building esports from the grassroots level and launching more premium IPs.”

Rajan Navani, Founder and CEO, JetSynthesys said, “With Skyesports, we envisioned the creation of a closely-knit esports ecosystem at the grassroots level. It’s a pleasure to have Rooter join us as a partner and we look forward to working together with them to be able to accelerate our growth in terms of viewership in India.”

Skyesports announced its plan for 2022 earlier this month, with prize money totaling more than $530,000 (Rs 4 crores) spread across multiple competitions. The Skyesports Grand Slam, Skyesports League, Skyesports Pro League, Skyesports Mobile Open, and Skyesports Championship will all return with a new format this year. Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI), Free Fire, League of Legends, Hearthstone, Valorant, FIFA, Supercell titles, Real Cricket, and more will be included in each IP.

In addition, the Skyesports League and the Skyesports Championship 4.0 will be held as LAN events, marking the company’s return to offline events after more than two years.

Nvidia hackers now targeted Samsung! 19GB of Confidential Data leaked

0

The same organisation that attacked Nvidia last week is said to have hacked Samsung. According to a report, the hacker gang – named LAPSUS$ – published about 190 GB of sensitive data and code from a number of Samsung projects, including biometric data, source code for Samsung’s activation servers, and “complete source code for technologies used for authorising and authenticating Samsung accounts.”

Photos of C/C+ commands in Samsung software were also disclosed, and the data collected as a result of the leak was then shared on torrent sites.

Samsung is purportedly “assessing the problem,” but has not acknowledged whether a ransom demand has been received. At this point, it’s unknown whether consumer information has been compromised or not.

As per the reports, LAPSUS$ claims to have leaked “confidential source code from Qualcomm,” too, and “algorithms for all biometric unlock operations” as well. But the authenticity of these claims has not been confirmed; the South Korean giant consumer electronics company hasn’t responded to a request for comment.

LAPSUS$ also allegedly leaked source code linked to Nvidia’s DLSS technology, and after the business failed to answer to a ransom demand, the group attempted to offer a tool that it claimed could overcome cryptocurrency mining constraints on modern graphics cards for $1 million.

Last week, Nvidia was purportedly “totally infiltrated” by a cyber-attack. Nvidia’s internal services, including email and development tools, have been down since last week due to a criminal network intrusion.

Last year, Nvidia’s cloud gaming service GeForce Now was datamined and hacked, revealing a list of upcoming PC games, many of which have since been launched or confirmed.

Jabra Elite 4 Active Review: Plenty for the price

0

Danish brand Jabra needs no introduction in the personal audio segment. It’s even more popular when it comes to TWS earbuds, and gives a tough competition to the likes of Apple, Samsung, Google Pixel and Sony in the premium segment. Jabra’s Elite series, in particular, is a name to reckon with, and continuing this much sought-after line-up, the company recently launched Jabra Elite 4 Active, yet another premium TWS offering with features such as Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), adjustable EQ and IP57-rated water resistance, to name a few. Priced at Rs 9,999, the Jabra Elite 4 Active comes in Black, Light Mint and Navy colour options. We had the latter for review, which we used for a couple of weeks, and here’s what we liked about this device, what we didn’t and why you should splurge this amount of money. Let’s take a look at these findings.

Design and Build

The Jabra Elite 4 Active gives you a premium touch and feel as soon as you take it in your hands. Starting with case, it’s made of a high-quality plastic and offers a decent flat-cylindrical design, which makes it easy to hold and carry in your pocket. There’s an LED just underneath the Jabra branding on the front of the charging case, which works as a battery life indicator, whereas on the back you get a USB-C port to charge the device.

In terms of earbuds, they have borrowed a design language from other Jabra TWS such as the premium Elite 7 Pro or the more affordable Elite 3. Although they offer a monotonous feel, the earbuds fit in ears of almost all shapes and sizes. The earbuds have got a matte and rubberised finish, which makes them feel tough. They sport a mesh grille that covers the mic on each earbud, which further helps in activating HearThrough mode and filtering out ambient noise when you are on a call using the mic. Defying today’s trend of touch controls, you get a multi-functional physical button on each housing, which helps you control your music playback, adjust the volume, accept, reject, and end calls, and summon your device’s voice assistant. Besides, you get a small LED indicator on each earbud which helps you know the battery status, as well as when they’re in pairing mode, or powering off.

Taken as a whole, the earphones offer a snug-fit design and stay perfectly in place, although the Jabra Elite 4 Active comes with two extra pairs of eartips made for different ear canal sizes. In addition, the earbuds come with IP57 dust- and water-resistance rating, which enables you to use them while exercising without having to worry about sweat or splashes of rains.

Features and Performance

It’s very easy to pair the Jabra Elite 4 Active with your smartphone via Bluetooth 5.2. It was a breeze with my iPhone 11. Besides, you may download the Jabra Sound+ app, where you’ll be able to select your EQ settings, adjust the HearThrough levels, and update the firmware when required. Inside the Jabra Elite 4 Active are 6mm drivers in each earbud, which deliver rich and punchy audio but not bass heavy. Even though the sound quality is satisfactory with excellent highs and lows, you have better options at this price range to go for. It was a wonderful experience while watching movies and listening to music. Thanks to the Qualcomm AptX HD codec, the details are super clear and adequate.

In terms of ANC which happens to be a prominent feature in premium segment devices, it works reasonably, keeping you unaware of your surroundings by isolating all the noise around you. Moreover, thanks to the Jabra Sound+ app, you’ll be able to set the level of noise isolation, and you can also adjust your preference whenever you would like. On the other hand, the HearThrough mode works pretty well, as turning on this feature instantaneously makes you aware of your surroundings and the audio comes through quite clearly via the microphone. It’s definitely an interesting feature that one should take into account while purchasing ANC earphones.

Talking about the call quality, it’s really impressive, thanks to the four built-in microphones used by the Jabra Elite 4 Active, as they are protected by a special mesh covering that helps in isolating noise. The sound went through perfectly clear at all times during my tests.

Battery

Battery-wise, it’s very remarkable. The company claims that the Elite 4 Active will last for up to 28 hours with the charging case, with seven hours of playback provided by the earbuds themselves. Standing tall to its claim, the all-new set of TWS earbuds will not let you down with ANC switched on.

Conclusion

The Jabra Elite 4 Active comes packed with a host of premium features like ANC, adjustable EQ, water and sweat resistance, powerful battery, and more. It offers a pretty clear and detailed sound quality but not bass-heavy. Although it misses out on wireless charging, it’s one of the best options to go for at the given price. It’s a complete package and you’ll not feel cheated.
