Google launches ‘Switch to android’ for the iPhone users

Switch to Android

There is currently no simple way for customers to move all of their data, including contacts and media files, from an iPhone to an Android-powered smartphone. But that’s about to change, as Google has discreetly released its ‘Switch to Android’ app on the App Store. Last year, 9To5 Google was the first to notice the app’s code. Google has now made the app available to iPhone users, less than a year later. The article does remind out, however, that ‘Switch to Android’ is an unlisted programme that can only be downloaded via this direct link. “The app also walks you through other important steps to setting up your device, like turning off iMessage so you don’t miss text messages from friends and family,” the App Store listing says.

Huawei announces enterprise-centric products

Huawei Consumer BG will now formally join the enterprise sector, serving both government and business clients as well as individual consumers. At the Huawei Business Product Launch Event, Richard Yu, Huawei’s Executive Director, Consumer BG CEO, and Intelligent Automotive Solution BU CEO made the announcement. Mr Yu stated that Huawei will offer a growing spectrum of adaptable office solutions that interact seamlessly with a wide range of smart devices, including laptops, desktops, monitors, tablets, peripherals, Visions, and wearables, using its hardware and software ecosystems as twin foundations. Government, education, health care, manufacturing, transportation, finance, and energy will all be addressed by these new office solutions.

The rollout of comprehensive enterprise-centric products

The demand for flexible office solutions has never been stronger, thanks to rapidly changing company requirements and market conditions. Traditional office goods, which tended to claim great specifications and cost control at the price of adaptability and user experience, have begun to be replaced by smart workspaces and equipment. Using its consumer success as a platform for new-paradigm solutions, Huawei Consumer BG intends to endow office and commercial goods with freshly smart and inventive capabilities. Huawei’s corporate products will match customers’ performance and cost-effectiveness needs while doubling down on a better and smarter user experience based on next-generation digital technologies.

As Mr Yu explained at the launch event: “Our consumer-oriented products have drawn widespread acclaim over the past decade, due largely to their groundbreaking user experience. Huawei will incorporate this premium consumer experience into its business products, following three key principles: quality, intelligence, and reliability.”

Huawei, as a new player in the corporate equipment market, has a strategy and vision that promises to transform the sector. Following the 1.0 and 2.0 eras, which were driven by desktops and multi-device convergence, Huawei believes the corporate equipment is approaching a period dominated by Cloud and AI technologies. Performance, intelligence, complete connectivity, and new paradigms based on all-purpose convergence and intelligent interactions are all emphasised in today’s goods. Huawei hopes to use its consumer electronics know-how to add new value and innovation to the enterprise market at this crossroads, which is characterised by widespread acceptance of versatile smart solutions, with the ultimate goal of building a high-quality, smart, and reliable platform to serve all government and enterprise customer needs.

Huawei has unveiled a comprehensive set of business products, solutions, and service platforms, including the MateBook B series for laptops, MateStation B series for desktops, Display B series for monitors, MatePad C series for tablets, B series for printers, B series for Visions, and B series for wearables, allowing a wide range of customers to benefit from this vision.
Huawei Consumer BG has introduced a range of business solutions aimed at governments, small, medium, and big businesses, including paperless government offices, smart schools, computer classrooms, miner and driver health and safety monitoring, and insurance interaction.

In the following phase, Huawei Consumer BG will devote more organisational resources to the business sector, in order to assist governments and large-scale corporations in fully digitising their operations, as well as small and medium-sized businesses in improving quality and efficiency across the board.
When creating business solutions and providing open, secure, and reliable software and hardware ecosystem capabilities to enable full digitalization for governments and large-scale organisations, Huawei Consumer BG will always adhere to its three main principles. Consumer BG’s smart office and cloud service expertise will be used to provide one-stop office solutions for small and medium-sized businesses. Smart office technologies such as Super Device and Mobile App Engine enable smooth multi-device and cross-ecosystem collaboration, while Huawei Mobile Cloud makes data transfers a breeze, boosting productivity to new heights.

In the hotel industry, for instance, custom hotel chain settings can be backed up and cloned via a USB flash drive, and installed on other Huawei Vision devices, with no hassle involved. Hotel IT personnel can apply upgraded solutions with just a USB flash drive so that Vision devices can be installed and standardized with enhanced efficiency.

(6) Huawei business wearable WATCH B series: Digital health management

Thanks to pop-up pairing, Huawei printers can connect to the network via multiple devices, and print information with just a tap on a smartphone. PixLab B5 prints up to 30 pages per minute, saving valuable time, and taking productivity to the next level. Ultra-stable network connections equip the printer to respond to printing requirements in real-time, across a diverse range of office and work scenarios. When a printer is in proximity to a Huawei PC, phone, or tablet, the device will automatically detect the printer, and display a pop-up pairing card. By touching the Connect button, the device-printer connection can be established in as little as 20 seconds. After opening an image or document on a Huawei phone, a printing task can be initiated simply by tapping the phone against the Huawei Share sensing area on the printer. The HUAWEI PixLab B5 adopts a drum-toner separation structure, and an innovative drawer-type toner cartridge, which can be replaced on its own. The large-capacity drum cartridge supports up to 15,000 pages of printing, saving enterprises untold time and money.

As you can see, Huawei Consumer BG has unveiled a full lineup of enterprise-centric smart products, which represent a long-term strategic investment on the company’s part. The standout performance, security, stability, and reliability of services, and availability of smart office and creation tools, have the potential to revolutionize smart office work in countless industries.

Stringent standards, data security, and multi-layer safeguards

Huawei provides customers with robust support in terms of product test standards, data security solutions, and full-lifecycle services, in order to meet the stricter needs of government and enterprise customers.

All Huawei Consumer BG business products have passed a battery of stringent quality assurance tests. Business desktops, for example, must pass explosive atmosphere, mechanical vibration, low air pressure, low temperature, high temperature, mechanical impact, mould, solar radiation, temperature impact, vibration, dust, humidity, and acid atmosphere tests. Only select materials are used, and products are designed with an emphasis on reliability and security.

Huawei also provides multi-layer data security safeguards, to ensure airtight data transmission. The principle of “no disturbance, no tracking, and no leakage” is strictly adhered to with regard to privacy protection and incorporated into every step of product design and development. App permissions have been re-sorted, with targeted controls available. Sensitive permissions related to private user data, such as call logs, messages, outgoing calls, and device information, have been cancelled. The access scope for albums is strictly controlled, and permission can be granted on an image-by-image basis. Huawei has also made a custom multi-screen collaboration solution available, which allows customers to add file filtering and sharing controls.

Better yet, Huawei has built a dedicated service system for enterprise customers, which far exceeds industry standards. Business equipment is not just a means for greater productivity in industry; it’s also the backbone for an increasingly smart and digitalizing economy, the infrastructure that will make life more enriched across the board. Huawei’s three principles for business products: quality, intelligence, and reliability, will inject new life into the industry at large, and ensure that any office can be a smart one.

Online Business vs Offline Business – Perks and challenges made known

0
offline and online business

India has always had a vast and vibrant small and medium business (SMB) ecosystem. Even before the advent of international retail chain stores and big-wig service aggregators, small merchants and service providers across the country have had an offline network of customers they could connect with directly and their businesses grew organically by word of mouth. However, with the digital technology having become an integral part of our lives, going online is no longer a luxury for businesses, it is now a necessity. This is especially true for small and medium entrepreneurs across India’s small cities and towns who might often limit their digital strategy to just WhatsApp messaging. However, SMB entrepreneurs have to understand that such platforms are only tools to disseminate messages and aren’t considered as full-fledged digitisation or taking a business online.

Below are some of the most important reasons why small and medium entrepreneurs need to move their businesses online.

Zero-Cost Migration

One of the biggest barriers for SMB businesses to go online is the supposed high cost of setting up an online presence, however, it is important to note that this barrier is only a mental one. Today, there are a host of companies looking to help entrepreneurs to build a digital presence and take their businesses online for very minimal costs. This is especially true in the Indian context where internet penetration is high and connection costs are some of the lowest in the world.  Coupled with the wide availability of smartphones and other gadgets, it further favours the argument for digitisation.

Profitability & Revenue

For any business owner, profitability remains a top priority. By taking a business online, entrepreneurs are opening up the doors to increased profit margins and more revenue for precisely two reasons. For example, to garner bookings for a small hill station homestay, the owner of the property would have to be listed on an aggregator website and eventually part with some share of their earnings because of steep commissions charged by aggregators. To add to this, their discoverability on the aggregator website would depend on a host of algorithm-driven factors and competition from other bigger market players. Hence, the owner of the small hill station homestay is at the mercy of aggregator apps for revenue and profitability. By building their own website to handle bookings 24×7 from multiple channels such as Whatsapp, Google, Facebook and Instagram, they could avoid splitting their revenue in terms of commissions and be able to build an independent network of loyal customers who they can communicate with directly without the intervention of aggregators. Thus, when entrepreneurs decide to take their businesses online, both increased profitability and revenue are direct advantageous outcomes that will follow.

Saving on time and effort

More often than not, SMB entrepreneurs have more than one business to look after. For them, digitising their business becomes even more important as it can free up time and energy that can then be diverted to other pursuits. It can also help small and medium business owners to run their businesses remotely and not be bound to one location all year round. Once a business has been digitised and mundane yet crucial tasks such as invoicing, bookings, refunds etc. are automated, entrepreneurs of small businesses—that usually don’t have many human resources to manage various tasks—can let their business run on autopilot mode and redirect their focus towards business growth and other strategic priorities.

Company reputation

Today, a single Google search has the potential to attract or repel a customer from buying a product/availing of any service. Hence, creating an online presence is a crucial aspect of maintaining a business’ reputation. A simple website, blog, or Instagram handle adds value and credibility to a business, establishing it as a real and professional brand. In today’s highly competitive market, customers cannot be expected to take a business seriously if they have no online presence to showcase their offerings effectively. Simply put, why would someone want to choose a particular taxi service or homestay if they have nothing to show for themselves; customers today expect to pre-experience a product or service even before they have purchased it. Hence, creating an online presence is an absolute necessity for a business to establish itself as a serious and reputable player.

As per the latest numbers, India has nearly 51 million SMB businesses, but yet, there are only about five million registered domain names,  indicating that there is a vast community of small and medium business owners that are unable to leverage the full power of technology services in order to grow their businesses. If India is to truly become self-reliant and bounce back from the impact of the pandemic, its SMB ecosystem will need to be digitally empowered so that it can become an active member of India’s transformation narrative.

India is home to around 20% of the world’s semiconductor design engineers, says PM

0
Semicon India Conference

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that India is home to around 20% of the world’s semiconductor design engineers while inaugurating Semicon India Conference 2022.

Union Ministers, leaders of the Semiconductor industry, investors, academics and members of the diplomatic corps were among those present on the three-day event in Bengaluru. Semicon India Conference started on April 29, will conclude on May 1.

Prime Minister underlined the critical role of semiconductors in today’s world and said “it is our collective aim to establish India as one of the key partners in global semiconductor supply chains. We want to work in this direction based on the principle of Hi-tech, high quality and high reliability.”

The Prime Minister underlined six reasons for India being an attractive investment destination for Semiconductor technologies.

First, India is building a digital infrastructure to connect over 1.3 billion Indians. Describing the strides that India has recently made in the field of financial inclusion, banking and digital payment revolution, the Prime Minister said “we are using digital technology to transform lives in all sectors of governance from health and welfare to inclusion and empowerment.”

Second, the Prime Minister said, with steps like connecting six hundred thousand villages with broadband investment in developing capabilities in 5G, IoT and clean energy technologies, India is paving the way to lead the next technology revolution.

Third, India is headed for robust economic growth with the world’s fastest-growing Startup Ecosystem. India’s own consumption of Semiconductors is expected to cross 80 billion Dollars by 2026 and 110 Billion Dollars by 2030.

Fourth, India has undertaken wide-ranging reforms for improving the ease of doing business in India. The Prime Minister informed about measures like the abolition of more than 25,000 compliances, a push towards auto-renewal of licenses, transparency and speed in regulatory framework via digitization and one of the most favourable taxation structures in the world.

Fifth reason, said the Prime Minister, is heavy investment in skilling and training young Indians for the needs of the 21st century. “We have an exceptional semiconductor design talent pool which makes up to 20% of the world’s semiconductor design engineers. Almost all of the top 25 semiconductor design companies have their design or R&D centres in our country”, he added.

Sixth, the Prime Minister said that India has undertaken several measures towards transforming the Indian manufacturing sector. “At a time when humanity was fighting a once in a century pandemic, India was not only improving the health of our people but also the health of our economy”, he said. Prime Minister Modi talked about ”Production Linked Incentives” schemes that offer incentives of over 26 Billion Dollars in 14 key sectors. Over the next 5 years, the electronics manufacturing sector is expected to see record growth, he informed. Shri Modi also told the audience about the recently announced Semi-con India Programme with a total outlay of over 10 billion dollars. This program aims to provide financial support to companies investing in semiconductors, display manufacturing and design ecosystems.

The Prime Minister acknowledged the need for government support and assured the audience of the best efforts of the government to provide a conducive environment for business. “While the industry works hard, the government must work even harder”, he said.

Noting the formation of the new world order, the Prime Minister asked to seize the opportunity that is emerging. “We have worked hard over the last few years to create an environment that encourages growth. India has an appetite for tech and risk-taking. We have put the odds in your favour as far as possible through a supportive policy environment. We have shown that India means business”, the Prime Minister concluded.

Xiaomi Pad 5 launched with Snapdragon 860 chipset

Xiaomi Pad 5 launched

Xiaomi has released the Pad 5 to challenge Apple’s dominance in the personal tablet market. Apple has dominated the tablet industry with different iterations of the iPad for years, and with good reason. No other tablet has been able to get into the specialized market that Apple has created. In comparison to Apple’s iPad, Android tablets have traditionally performed badly. Samsung and Lenovo are the only two companies that have a significant presence in the industry. When it comes to tablets, it’s clear that customers favour Apple. Xiaomi’s most recent tablet was introduced roughly three years ago. The Snapdragon 860 chipset is at the heart of the smartphone, which has 6GB of RAM and up to 256GB of storage in all models. The device is powered by an 8,720 mAh battery that can charge at up to 22.5W. Xiaomi’s MIUI Global 12.5.2 runs on Android 11 on the Pad 5. The tablet was created with content consumption in mind, which is why it features a 16:10 aspect ratio. The Pad 5 includes a quad-speaker setup tuned by Harmon Kardon to make it more user-friendly for content consumption.
