JioHotstar has unveiled a series of AI-driven features aimed at transforming the streaming experience, announced during its 48th Annual General Meeting. Among the key highlights are the AI-powered voice assistant RIYA, the innovative Voice Print technology for multilingual viewing, the interactive JioLenz, and the upgraded MaxView 3.0 cricket experience. Here’s more on everything that has been announced.
The newly introduced voice-enabled search assistant RIYA is designed to simplify how users explore JioHotstar’s massive content library. With thousands of hours of entertainment available, manual searching can be overwhelming. RIYA solves this by enabling natural speech commands to instantly find shows, movies, seasons, or even specific episodes.
The company explained that RIYA understands human thought and speech patterns, curating personalised recommendations and significantly reducing the need for endless scrolling.
Another major addition is Voice Print, a breakthrough feature that uses AI voice cloning and lip-sync technology to deliver localised content in multiple Indian languages.
JioHotstar stated that “Voice Print” is designed to preserve the authenticity of performances by cloning an actor’s or commentator’s voice in another language while keeping their original vocal tone and ensuring perfect lip-sync. This innovation is expected to enhance the viewing experience of sports broadcasts, such as live cricket matches, as well as movies and series.
With JioLenz, users will have the freedom to customise how they watch content by switching between multiple perspectives within the same stream. Whether for sports or entertainment, this feature provides a more immersive, interactive and personalised way to engage with live or recorded content.
The upgraded MaxView 3.0 brings cricket closer to fans than ever before. This mobile-first feature integrates multiple camera angles, instant highlights, live scorecards, and a multi-language option, all within a single interactive screen for a richer and more engaging sports experience.
Alongside these new feature rollouts, JioHotstar highlighted its rapid platform expansion. The service now hosts over 3.2 lakh hours of content, adding nearly 30,000 hours of fresh content each year, a volume that reportedly exceeds the combined libraries of its two closest rivals.
In terms of adoption, JioHotstar has recorded remarkable growth with 600 million users in just three months of launch including 75 million connected TV viewers. Additionally, with 300 million paying subscribers, it has cemented its position as one of the world’s largest streaming platforms.
