Airtel 5G services were launched in seven cities of Jammu & Kashmir on Friday, Jio announced its Jio True 5G network services in cities spread across six Northeastern states.
Airtel 5G network services have been launched in seven Jammu & Kashmir cities, including Samba, Kathua, Udhampur, Akhnoor, Kupwara, Lakhanpur, and Khour. The network was already live in Srinagar. As per Airtel, its 5G services will be available to its users in a phased manner as the company is still constructing its network to complete the rollout. Airtel customers using 5G-enabled devices can experience high-speed Airtel 5G Plus network at no extra cost until the rollout is more widespread.
Adarsh Verma, COO of Bharti Airtel, Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh said, “Customers in these cities can now experience ultrafast network and enjoy speeds up to 20-30 times faster than the current 4G speeds.”
“Connectivity to our customers in the Valley is in line with our commitment to bridge the digital divide and connect communities who need it the most”.
“We are in the process of lighting up the entire Union territory which will allow customers to enjoy superfast access to high-definition video streaming, gaming, multiple chatting, instant uploading of photos and more,” Verma added.
Reliance Jio also announced its True 5G services spanning across six Northeast Indian states, including Manipur (Imphal), Tripura (Agartala), Meghalaya (Shillong), Mizoram (Aizawl), Arunachal Pradesh (Itanagar), Nagaland (Kohima and Dimapur). The company has also claimed to provide its True 5G services in every town and taluka of the North-Eastern states by December 2023.

January 27 onwards, the Jio network users in these six states were be invited to avail of the Jio Welcome Offer in order to get the benefits of Unlimited Data at up to 1 Gbps+ speeds, at no additional cost. Following the events, the Jio Spokesperson mentioned that Jio True 5G has already reached 191 cities in less than four months of its beta launch.

Since Jio is offering the 5G connectivity on an invitational basis, users living in 5G enabled cities with 5G compatible smartphones will get invite. After getting the 5G invite, Jio users will be able to use unlimited 5G data along with the existing entitlements under the active recharges/plans. The additional unlimited 5G data will be valid as long as the validity of the active base plan.
Further, the Jio 5G welcome Offer will be available to Jio customers who are in good Jio 5G-network coverage area most of the time and have a valid active prepaid OR postpaid plan.
According to Jio, customers with an active plan of Rs 239 or higher will only be able to use the 5G services.

2. The largest & best mix of 5G spectrum across 700 MHz, 3500 MHz, 26 GHz bands.
3. Carrier Aggregation that seamlessly combines these 5G frequencies into a single robust “data highway” using an advanced technology called Carrier Aggregation.

Ans) If you have received the Jio welcome but are still not able to connect to 5G network:
* Open ‘Settings’ app on your smartphone.
* Go to ‘Mobile networks’.
* Now select the Jio SIM.
* Now tap on ‘Preferred network type’ option.
* And now select 5G network type.
Ans) No. As per Regulation, Prepaid subscribers of J&K, Assam & North East are not allowed to use International Roaming service including VoLTE service. However, Postpaid customers of J&K, Assam and North East are allowed to use the IR service on PayGo rates as well as International Roaming Packs with VoLTE services available in applicable countries.
Ans) Airtel has also updated its Thanks app which now allows users to check the 5G compatibility of their smartphone.
