Instagram’s Threads app is looking at new ways to boost attention on its platform and for this it is now making strides with new features.
This week, the official Threads Instagram handle and Instagram’s chief, Adam Mosseri, took to their Thread accounts to reveal two significant updates.
The first is that users can now revisit and modify their threads up to five minutes post-publication.
This feature has been highly requested, especially from users who migrated from X (previously known as Twitter) and felt constrained by its premium feature structure.
Unlike X, where editing capabilities come at a premium price, Threads is offering its “edit button” at zero cost, beginning from today.
In addition, “voice threads”, colloquially predicted to become popular as “voice notes”, have been introduced.
Engaging with this feature is simple.
Users can tap the microphone symbol, and upon seeing the recording tool, either tap or press the button for recording.
To add to the user-friendliness, these voice threads come with automated captions that can be edited before publishing.
Nevertheless, it’s worth mentioning a few observations.
Despite these updates not necessitating a separate app update, the voice notes feature seems absent from the web version of the app.
It’s yet unclear if this is intentional or just part of the phased rollout.
Yes, Threads by Instagram now allows you to edit your threads up to five minutes after posting.
No, unlike some platforms, the editing feature on Threads is available at zero cost.
Simply tap the microphone symbol, and use the recording tool that appears to record your voice thread.
Currently, the voice threads feature is not available on the web version of Threads.
