Google’s Gemini, the chatbot that is soon likely to replace Google Assistant on Android devices, has received a significant update that streamlines the voice command process for users.
Initially requiring manual submission of voice commands, Google has quickly addressed this inconvenience by enabling automatic sending of voice instructions, marking a leap towards a more intuitive user interaction.
At its launch, Gemini’s required users to manually press submit after issuing a voice command.
As such, unaware users experienced a delay in processing their requests, as they didn’t press the send button, robbing them of a seamless experience.
To counter this, as per 9to5Google, Google has introduced a new update that allows voice commands to be sent automatically through the overlay panel or the full app interface, effectively eliminating the need for manual submission.
It marks a return to the more fluid, natural dialogue users have come to expect from voice assistants, making Gemini a more viable replacement for Google Assistant on Android devices.
In addition to improving the core app experience, Google is set to extend Gemini’s functionality to headphones.
This development was hinted at in a beta version of the Google app (15.6), revealing plans to make Gemini accessible via audio wearables.
Currently, devices like the Pixel Buds Pro still rely on Google Assistant due to its integration with hardware-specific gestures or buttons.
The transition to Gemini on headphones suggests a future where users can make use of generative AI and LLMs to accomplish their tasks more fluidly.
Features such as shorter responses or customizable playback speeds, will enhance the overall utility of voice commands in a hands-free context.
Google Gemini is an advanced chatbot expected to replace Google Assistant on Android devices, offering more intuitive interactions and leveraging generative AI for seamless communication.
The latest update eliminates the need for manual submission of voice commands. Users can now enjoy automatic sending of voice instructions, significantly speeding up interactions and making the process more natural.
Yes, Google is working to expand Gemini’s functionality to headphones, allowing users to access its features through audio wearables. This will enable hands-free use and a consistent voice assistant experience across devices.
