Google is rolling out a fresh redesign for its Contacts app, focusing on easier access to individual contact settings.
It was recently highlighted by Android Authority contributor Assemble Debug on X (previously Twitter) handle @AssembleDebug, saying “Google Contacts will move some contact options to the bottom of the contact page, may remove the chips from the contacts list and a new add to favourites suggestion.”

Previously hidden under the three-dot ‘meatballs’ menu in the top right, these settings now appear as easy-to-find icons for options like Contact ringtone, Share Contact, Add to Home Screen and Move to another account.
A useful new ‘Reminders’ feature is also part of the update, allowing users to set reminders for birthdays and anniversaries, making it easier to remember special dates for friends and family.
Moreover, the redesigned contact page now includes a ‘Contact info from’ section, which shows where the contact information is sourced, such as from a specific Google account or app.
The latest update is part of version 4.44.31.692334116 of the Google Contacts app, and Google has included new customisation options for contact images.
A video preview shared by Andriod authority shows Google is adding a ‘Monogram’ feature, which joins existing choices to set contact photos using device images, Google Photos or illustrations.
With the new Monogram option, users can create a custom image using up to two letters (like initials), and tweak the colour, background and font by tapping the contact image circle.
An ‘Inspire me’ button lets you randomise the font and background for a unique look.
Users can also select the new ‘Emoji’ option to set any emoji as a contact image. This choice allows you to adjust the emoji’s colours between light and dark modes, with an outline that complements the background.
The video demonstration highlights both new features, making this update a nice touch for users who enjoy a bit of personalization in their contacts.
