The Galaxy S21 series and other 2021 devices will eventually get Samsung’s Galaxy AI features, but not in the ways that were initially expected.
Samsung was rumored to be planning to include certain AI functions to the Galaxy S21 series, Galaxy Z Flip 3, and Galaxy Z Fold 3 earlier in April.
Samsung did not, however, provide any formal statements at that time.
When Samsung began pushing out the One UI 6.1 upgrade to these devices earlier this month, things got even more complex.
The inclusion of Circle in Search was verified by the changelogs, although Samsung has since refuted rumors that the Galaxy Z Fold 3 would have access to almost all Galaxy AI capabilities.
Samsung has confirmed that the Galaxy S21 series, Galaxy Z Flip 3, and Galaxy Z Fold 3 will only get Circle to Search and Chat Assist as their only AI capabilities.
This update is good news for the Galaxy S21 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 users, as they were initially expected to receive only the Circle to Search feature.
However, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 will get fewer AI features than previously rumored.
Samsung states that the One UI 6.1 update, which includes these AI features, is rolling out to the 2021 flagships and the company’s 2022 flagships starting this week globally.
The Galaxy S21 series and Galaxy Z Flip 3 will receive two AI features: Circle to Search and Chat Assist, as part of the One UI 6.1 update.
Samsung has confirmed that the Galaxy Z Fold 3 will receive fewer AI features than previously rumored, with specifics now limited to a couple of confirmed features.
Earlier rumors suggested a broader deployment of AI features across older models like the Galaxy Z Fold 3, but recent confirmations have narrowed this down to just two main features.
The update is scheduled to start globally this week, targeting both the 2021 and 2022 flagship models with the new AI features.
