boAt, one of India’s largest wearable brands, has partnered with Jio to launch a new product named Lunar Pro LTE.
This is a smartwatch that is integrated with Jio’s eSIM technology, likely a first in its segment, allowing users to stay connected without needing a smartphone.
The details regarding the pricing of the boAt Lunar Pro LTE smartwatch were not specified in the initial announcement.
However, boAt is surely to reveal it in the coming days.
Aman Gupta, Co-Founder and CMO of boAt, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration with Jio, saying, “We are excited to partner with Jio to launch our first LTE Smartwatch. At boAt, we believe that everyone should have access to the latest and greatest technology, and our partnership with Jio is a step in the right direction.
We are confident that our LTE Smartwatch will be a game-changer for people in India, providing them with the convenience of staying connected without having to carry their smartphones.”
The Lunar Pro LTE smartwatch is said to be engineered to enhance the connectivity and independence of its users.
It has an eSIM feature, powered by Jio, which enables the watch to function independently of a smartphone.
This means users can make and receive calls, as well as send and receive messages directly from their wrist, without the need to carry a phone.
This service is a bit astounding, to say the least, as eSIM functionality is typically reserved for more premium wearables.
A Jio spokesperson said, “Jio is delighted to partner with boAt for their new LTE smartwatch that is powered by Jio reliable 4G network. Jio has the best network in the country and we are committed to provide the best connected experience to our users. This partnership with boAt is a testament to our commitment to innovation and our focus on providing our customers with the best technology.”
In terms of outdoor activity tracking, the Lunar Pro LTE is equipped with a built-in GPS.
boAt says it will allow for precise tracking of routes and distances, providing users with detailed and accurate data about their outdoor exercises and adventures.
Additionally, the smartwatch boasts a 1.39-inch AMOLED display but hasn’t specified any levels of brightness.
Regardless, the panel should have good colour accuracy and legibility owing to its OLED nature as compared to run-of-the-mill LCDs.
The device also includes sedentary alerts, so that users are reminded to move if they have been inactive for an extended period.
Apart from that the Lunar Pro LTE includes a heart rate monitor, a blood oxygen monitor, sleep tracker, and other important health tracking features.
Lastly, the fitness tracker component of the smartwatch helps users keep track of their daily activity levels, and workout routines, and achieve their fitness goals more effectively.
