As the world of esports steadily builds momentum, India’s gaming scene is set to enter its next thrilling phase with the second season of the BGMI Master Series.
Organised by Nodwin Gaming and Star Sports, this groundbreaking event is all set to kick off on August 4, presenting an unprecedented prize pool of Rs 2.1 crore which happens to be the biggest in the history of BGMI Esports.
As with any other BGMI tournament preceding it, the Master Series will be a high-stakes competition, with 24 renowned BGMI teams vying for supremacy over the course of a 22-day-long contest that will conclude on August 27.
Season 1, which was marked by nail-biting matches, gave us a taste of the intense competition we can expect from the upcoming games, culminating in an epic victory for Global Esports.
Season 2 of the BGMI Master Series aims may just supersede the action and also the overwhelming fan response of its previous season.
Fans are eagerly anticipating this season, given the high-level competition and detailed, meticulous tournament structure, a testament to the organisers’ commitment to an engaging and fair competition.
Here is the complete format for this new tournament along with the participating teams
The Battlegrounds Mobile India Masters Series (BGMS) unfolds over a period of 22 days. It’s not just the glory of the win that these teams are fighting for, but a substantial Rs 2.1 crore prize pool.
The crowning team will not only earn the esteemed title of champions but also a handsome cash prize of Rs 1 crore.
The tournament begins with a Launch Week from August 4-6, during which the teams will be divided into three groups and play three matches per day.
This stage ensures each team has a fair start with six matches to play. The points accrued during these games will contribute to the teams’ overall standings in the league stage.
Following the Launch Week, League Stage Week 1 runs from August 7-9. The teams are reshuffled into three groups based on their performances in the launch week, and a round-robin format is followed.
The top 16 teams after these matches proceed to the first Super Weekend, held from August 11-13.
During Super Weekend 1, the top 16 teams compete over three days August 11 to August 13, in nine matches. The points garnered here augment the teams’ standings from the league stage.
Crucially, the top four teams after this weekend secure a direct entry to the following Super Weekend, although they continue to participate in Week 2’s league matches.
The second week of the league stage, from August 14-17, sees the return of all 24 teams. Given the top four teams from Week 1 already have their Super Weekend 2 places booked, the remaining slots will be hotly contested among the top 12 teams of Week 2.
Super Weekend 2, taking place from August 18-20 involves the top four teams from Week 1 and the top 12 teams from the league stage in Week 2.
They compete in nine matches spread over three days, with the results shaping the overall standings that now include points from Launch Week and both Super Weekends.
After these intense rounds of competition, the top four teams advance to the grand finals, while those ranking 5th to 20th proceed to the playoffs. Unfortunately, the journey ends here for the bottom four teams.
The climax of the BGMI Masters Series 2023 unfolds as the top 12 teams from the playoffs join the top four from the league stage in a decisive three-day showdown.
With fierce competition anticipated, these teams will engage in exhilarating BGMI action, all vying for the ultimate accolade – the championship crown and a prize pool of Rs 2.1 crore.
In a move to intensify the BGMI Masters Series Season 2, Nodwin Gaming has implemented a 15-point scoring system, incentivising early aggression with two points per kill within the first zone.
This new scoring style urges teams to rethink strategies to climb the leaderboard.
The second season of BGMI Masters Series will be accessible to a broad audience. The event will be aired live on Star Sports Network and will also be available for streaming on Rooter from 9:30 PM, making it possible for fans across the country to follow the competition.
