YouTube Music’s 2023 Recap is here and while it may not be any Spotify Wrapped, it is more personalised and interactive than the last time.
There are now insights into users’ listening habits, favorite genres, and moods, and some other new features enhancing the overall experience.
To access the YouTube Music 2023 Recap, users can simply select their profile avatar and tap on “Your Recap”.
The Recap showcases the user’s top five artists, songs, moods, genres, albums, and playlists, as well as statistics like the longest listening streak and total minutes listened to in 2023.
A standout feature in the YouTube Music 2023 Recap is the custom album art, which creates a unique album cover using visuals and colors from users’ top songs.
This feature encapsulates the user’s overall vibe and aesthetic for the year, offering a creative representation of their musical journey.
This year’s recap also introduces mood matching, associating top songs with specific moods like ‘laid back’, ‘happy-go-plucky’, and ‘stoked’.
This feature gives users a new way to reflect on how their music choices resonated with their emotions throughout the year.
Building on last year’s feature of shareable cards, the 2023 Recap now allows users to shuffle and customize Google Photos along with their favorite songs.
The visual narrative of pairing songs with memorable moments makes for a holistic year-end summary.
Apart from this YouTube is also offering a genre breakdown and a final summary, complete with interactive elements like download and share buttons.
While the auto-generated playlist of top songs is yet to be seen, users can always opt for screenshots to capture and share their musical highlights.
