Xiaomi, the Chinese titan known for its smartphones, has recently showcased the factory that will produce its first electric car, the Xiaomi SU7.
With the official launch of the car just around the corner, excitement and anticipation are building up.
Xiaomi’s foray into the electric vehicle (EV) sector marks a significant milestone for the company, as it sets its sights on competing in a market dominated by giants like Tesla.
The unveiling of Xiaomi’s “super factory” was a momentous occasion, celebrated by none other than Lei Jun, the founder, chairman, and CEO of Xiaomi.
At a special board meeting held at the EV factory, directors were given a tour and had the opportunity to test drive the much-awaited Xiaomi SU7.
Although Lei Jun kept details scarce, he shared a glimpse of the factory, hinting at the scale of production and innovation taking place within its walls.
“Today is a special day as Xiaomi EV’s super factory is officially unveiled,” Lei Jun, founder, chairman, and CEO of Xiaomi, wrote on Weibo today. “This board meeting was chosen to be held at the Xiaomi EV factory, where the directors toured the factory and test drove the Xiaomi SU7,” he added.
Xiaomi’s silence on the SU7’s pricing has fuelled speculation, with local media making educated guesses.
The estimated price range for the SU7 is between 250,000 CNY and 370,000 CNY (Rs 26,00,000 – Rs 38,00,000), positioning it as a strong competitor to Tesla’s Model 3 but with the added advantage of more space.
There are also whispers of a premium “SU7 Max” variant, potentially setting a new benchmark in the luxury EV segment.
Mark your calendars for March 28, the day Xiaomi officially launches the SU7, with deliveries to follow shortly after.
In a build-up to the launch, customers will have the chance to experience the SU7 from March 25, with reservations already underway.
The anticipation for the SU7 is palpable, with 59 show cars available across 29 cities, ready to give potential buyers a taste of Xiaomi’s electric dream.
Since announcing its ambitious venture into car manufacturing on March 30, 2021, Xiaomi has steadily built up to this moment.
The unveiling of the SU7 on December 28, 2023, was a landmark event, setting the stage for Xiaomi’s entry into the competitive EV market.
The Xiaomi SU7 is the first electric car from Xiaomi, featuring state-of-the-art technology and design, aimed at revolutionizing the electric vehicle (EV) market.
The official launch date for the Xiaomi SU7 is March 28, with customer deliveries expected to commence shortly after the launch.
The Xiaomi SU7 is positioned as a strong competitor to Tesla’s Model 3, offering similar or better features with the added advantage of more space, making it a highly anticipated vehicle in the EV market.
Speculation suggests the Xiaomi SU7 will be priced between 250,000 CNY and 370,000 CNY, making it a competitively priced option for those looking to enter the electric vehicle space.
Starting March 25, Xiaomi will showcase 59 show cars across 29 cities, offering potential buyers the chance to experience the SU7 firsthand before the official launch.
