Xiaomi’s 15 Ultra is set to launch next week and its camera details have been tipped ahead of its debut. The Partner and President of Xiaomi Group Lu Weibing recently shared key details about the device during a live broadcast in China. He discussed Xiaomi’s growing premium product lineup and explained that launch events alone aren’t enough to showcase every detail.
Xiaomi will combine launch events with live broadcasts more frequently to give users deeper insights into their products.
To explain things further, popular tipster Digital Chat Station later summarised the main highlights from the session on Weibo.
One of the biggest revelations was the full camera setup of the Xiaomi 15 Ultra featuring a quad-camera system. Following are the key camera specs of the upcoming flagship device –
Xiaomi is focusing on improving night photography with an “ultra-pure optical system” aiming to set a new benchmark in mobile imaging. However, this generation will not feature a variable aperture.
The Xiaomi 15 Ultra isn’t just an imaging powerhouse, it’s now positioned as a “pinnacle imaging technology flagship” featuring top-tier hardware. However, with these premium upgrades, pricing is also expected to rise. In addition to its advanced camera system, the device will showcase Xiaomi’s latest innovations in battery, display, and connectivity.
Another major announcement was the first public reveal of the Xiaomi Imaging Lab, a state-of-the-art facility built with an investment of over 20 million Yuan. The lab features real-world setups like cafés, museums, jewellery stores, luxury boutiques and restaurants to test smartphone cameras in realistic environments. A second phase of development will introduce artificial sunlight and water systems.
Xiaomi’s investment in this lab is one reason why the brand is no longer focusing on DXOMARK rankings.
