Xiaomi has been silent about the Xiaomi 15’s global launch after releasing the phone in China last month. The company introduced its 15 series flagship smartphones in China featuring Snapdragon 8 Elite processors, improved cameras and larger batteries compared to previous models in October. Xiaomi typically launches its flagships globally around February or March, but now recent certifications hint the release could come earlier this time.
Here’s what we know.
According to a recent report by MySmartPrice, the Xiaomi 15 recently passed Thailand’s NBTC certification. For the global market, the device carries the model number 24129PN74G and supports GSM, WCDMA, LTE and NR connectivity.
While the certification doesn’t reveal much else, the device also appeared in the FCC database, confirming two configurations for the global market: 12GB + 256GB and 12GB + 512GB. It will ship with Xiaomi’s latest Android 15-based skin, HyperOS 2.
The global variant is expected to closely mirror its Chinese counterpart. That means it will likely feature the powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite processor and a large 5,400mAh battery supporting 90W wired and 50W wireless charging.
The phone is also rumoured to include a 6.36-inch LTPO OLED display with a resolution of 1200 x 2670 pixels and a dynamic refresh rate ranging from 1Hz to 120Hz, ensuring smooth performance while optimising power usage. The display is expected to support Dolby Vision and HDR10+, delivering vibrant colours and deep contrasts.
For photography enthusiasts, the Xiaomi 15 is anticipated to sport a triple-camera setup, each featuring 50MP sensors for the primary, ultra-wide and 3x telephoto lenses.
In China, Xiaomi also introduced a Xiaomi 15 Special Liquid Silver Edition featuring a unique rear glass panel. The model “has undergone an exceptionally refined hot-pressing process to create a textured ripple effect.” It will be interesting to see if the same model comes to the international market or remains exclusive in China.
In related news, Xiaomi’s sub-brand Redmi has unveiled its flagship smartphones the Redmi K80 and K80 Pro in China. These devices pack serious power with the K80 running on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and the K80 Pro using the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor. Both phones boast massive batteries, advanced cooling systems and improved cameras.
