Xiaomi 12S series dropping tomorrow, here’s what to expect

Xiaomi is all set to unveil its next flagship series- the Xiaomi 12S series tomorrow, July 4, 2022. This is an exclusive flagship launch made for the company’s homeland. The series features three shiny variants namely, the Xiaomi 12S, Xiaomi 12S Pro and the Xiaomi 12S Ultra. The brand has already revealed some of the key specifications that the series will harness.

With the Xiaomi 12S Ultra being the top-of-the-line offering, the whole 12S series will come with Leica-tuned cameras. Furthermore, the 12S Ultra is confirmed to feature a 1-inch camera sensor. Here is a short glance at the Xiaomi 12S series’ features, specs, and other information that we know so far!

Xiaomi 12S: Specifications and features

Talking about the base variant of the 12S flagship series, the Xiaomi 12S will sit at the bottom of the upcoming series. It will feature a 6.28-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display paired with a 120Hz refresh rate support for smooth multitasking. The device will also sport a hole-punch cutout at the top centre to house the front camera. Furthermore, it will feature 1500 nits of peak brightness so that you won’t miss colour in the bright sunlight as well. It might also layer a Gorilla Glass Victus for screen protection.

There will be a new Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC inside powering the device to manage all your heavy tasks. The device will come in three storage variants: 8GB + 128GB, 8GB + 256GB, and 12GB + 256GB.

A 4500 mAh battery will be included in the Xiaomi 12S, despite its small size. It will reportedly support both 67W and 50W rapid charging, according to rumours.

On the rear of the phone, there will be three cameras. A 50MP Sony IMX707 1/1.28-inch sensor will be present. A 13MP ultrawide camera and a 5MP tele-macro camera are anticipated to be included. The 12S will include a 32MP front camera for taking selfies.

Xiaomi 12S Pro: Specifications and features

The Xiaomi 12S Pro will come with Leica-tuned triple-cameras on the back. There will be three 50MP sensors on the back. The main camera will feature a 50MP Sony IMX707 sensor. In addition to this, the Xiaomi 12S Pro will have a 50MP ultrawide and a 50MP telephoto camera with 2x zoom. The sensor details of the other two cameras are unknown at the moment. It will also feature a 32MP front camera.

Under the hood, there will be a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC. Xiaomi is also rumoured to launch a variant of the 12S Pro with a MediaTek Dimensity 9000 SoC. The phone will pack a 4600 mAh battery with 120W fast charging support, and 50W wireless charging support.

At the front, there will be a 6.73-inch QHD+ AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate support. The 10-bit display will offer 1500 nits of peak brightness, a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass Victus and an in-display fingerprint scanner.

Xiaomi 12S Ultra: Specifications and features

The most premium smartphone in the Xiaomi 12S series, the Xiaomi 12S Ultra, will feature a quad-camera setup. It is confirmed to feature a 50MP Sony IMX989 1-inch main camera. The Xiaomi 12S Ultra camera setup is also rumoured to feature a 48MP ultra-wide camera, a 48MP telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom and another 48MP camera with 10x optical zoom.

For selfies, the 12S Ultra could feature a 20MP front camera inside the hole-punch cutout. The device will sport a 6.73-inch LTPO 2.0 AMOLED display with a QHD+ resolution. There will be support for a 120Hz refresh rate as well. The screen is expected to offer above 1500 nits of peak brightness.

Under the hood, the Xiaomi 12S Ultra will come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC. It will launch with up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB or 512GB of internal storage. Xiaomi 12S Ultra is expected to pack a 4800 mAh battery with support for 120W wired fast charging, 50W wireless charging and 10W reverse wireless charging.

All three Xiaomi 12S series phones will come with Harmon-Kardon-tuned dual speakers. They are also expected to come with some type of IP rating for water and dust resistance.
