Why old MacBook Air is still a better option for most users in India – Check Now !!

Apple announced its second-gen M2 system-on-a-chip (SoC) and with it, a redesigned MacBook Air with the new chip. Packed with the new M2 chip and a lot more in terms of power as well as design, the new MacBook Air will be available for purchase starting next month.

Despite refreshing its MacBook Air after 2 years, Apple has decided to continue to sell its MacBook Air (2020). Though, Apple has not cited any reason for this. Usually, tech giant discontinues the older Mac models with the launch of the new Mac.

Affordability seems to be a reason for continuing with the MacBook Air (2020). The MacBook Air M2 is priced higher than its predecessor. The refreshed MacBook Air carries an initial price tag of MacBook Air with M2 starts at Rs 119,900 and Rs 109,900 for education. While, the MacBook Air 2020 (MacBook Air M1) can be purchased at a price as low as Rs 80,000 after several bank offers by the third-party platforms like Flipkart, Amazon, and others. The top- model of the MacBook Air M2 featuring 8-Core CPU, 10-Core GPU, 8GB RAM, and 512GB SSD is priced Rs 1,49,900.

Launched at a price of Rs 92,900, 2020 MacBook Air’s price has been officially increased by Rs 7,000 to Rs 99,900. Apple offered the MacBook Air M1 at an aggressive price point in 2020 and it helped the tech giant to attract several Windows users.

Why to opt for MacBook Air M1

Despite the performance and design upgrades, the MacBook Air (2020) is still a better buy for Indians looking for a device that can take care of their day-to-day work. Those who are looking for some video editing on their laptop should consider buying new MacBookAir 2022.

The slightly less powerful with an old design, MacBook Air 2020 can be an appropriate to take care of regular daily tasks seamlessly for Indians looking for a high end laptop.

The M2-powered laptop offers an 18 per cent faster CPU, 35 per cent faster GPU, and a 40 per cent faster neural engine and all while using a similar amount of power. While, MacBook Air 2020 comes with a powerful CPU, massive GPU, incredible Neural Engine, ProRes hardware acceleration, and huge amount of unified memory.

Featuring a larger 13.6-inch Liquid Retina display with a screen resolution of 2,560 x 1,664 pixels and a 1080p FaceTime HD webcam, new mics and a four-speaker sound system with Dolby Atmos support, MacBook Air (2022) has ditched the old design.

So why one should go for the MacBook Air 2020 and MacBook Air 2022? Overall price and performance wise MacBook Air 2020 can be a better choice. As claimed by the Apple that MacBook Air 2022 will offer 18% performance jump. This increase in performance might not be noticed by majority of the users.

Also, with its distinctive and signature wedge shape design, MacBook Air 2020 might be a preferred choice for many. The new Air 2022, meanwhile, is classier but may not look as distinctive as the older Air.
