Meta-owned messaging app has been dedicated to expanding its profile customisation options, aiming to make personal profiles more expressive and engaging. In a new development, WhatsApp is reportedly working on a new feature that will allow users to set profile cover photos. It is not something new as this feature was previously exclusive to WhatsApp Business accounts. The feature is currently in development and is expected to roll out in a future update. Here’s all we know about the feature so far.
According to a recent WABetaInfo report, the company is developing an option for users to upload a custom cover photo that will appear at the top of their profile. It is expected to be much like what users already see on Facebook and LinkedIn. Once introduced, users will be able to select a cover image directly from the profile settings section.

The report also shared a screenshot showcasing what the cover photo selector interface might look like once implemented. Along with this, WhatsApp plans to include a privacy control setting to let users decide who can view their cover photo.
As per the report, the cover photo feature is being tested on WhatsApp beta version 2.25.32.2 for Android, which is currently rolling out to beta testers via the Google Play Beta Programme. However, the feature remains in development and is not yet available for beta users to access or use.
