WhatsApp looks like it is working on a new feature that will allow users to add, reorder, and remove favorite contacts and groups from the app’s settings.
This update is part of the ‘Favorites’ tab and was discovered in one of the recent beta versions of WhatsApp for Android by the popular WhatsApp features tracker, WABetaInfo.
Here’s what it could do to help users
The upcoming ‘Favorites’ tab will be a more streamlined way to access the contacts and groups they interact with frequently.
Basically, you can add contacts to the Favorites section and then easily find and communicate with their most important contacts without having to scroll through long lists.
In addition to the Favorites tab, WhatsApp is also testing a feature that will enable users to react quickly to status updates.
This functionality will allow users to express their appreciation for the content posted by others with simple reactions, similar to how they can react to messages.
While these new features are still in development, users interested in trying them out will need to ensure they have the latest version of WhatsApp installed.
The ‘Favorites’ feature was spotted in the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.7.18 update, and it’s important to keep an eye out for official updates and announcements regarding their release.
It’s worth noting that when contacts or groups are marked as favorites, no notifications will be sent out regarding this change.
WhatsApp is developing a ‘Favorites’ tab that enables users to add, reorder, and remove their favorite contacts and groups, making these frequently interacted with contacts more accessible directly from the app’s settings.
This feature simplifies reaching out to commonly contacted friends and family by allowing users to organize their contacts into a quickly accessible ‘Favorites’ list, reducing the need to scroll through extensive contact lists.
Alongside the ‘Favorites’ tab, WhatsApp is testing a feature that lets users react to status updates quickly, enhancing interaction by allowing expressions of feelings through simple reactions, much like reacting to messages.
To try the new features, users must download the latest beta version of WhatsApp for Android, specifically version 2.24.7.18, where these features are currently being tested.
No, when you add contacts or groups to your ‘Favorites’, WhatsApp does not notify them. This change is private and only visible to the user making the modification.
