On Weibo, Vivo product manager Han Boxiao revealed that the handset will use a 200MP Samsung HPB sensor for its telephoto camera. It will be supported by Zeiss T* coating, fluorite glass elements and APO certification to minimise chromatic aberration.

The sensor is 1/1.4-inch in size with an 85mm equivalent focal length, making it well-suited for portraits and long-range photography.

Han explained that while the X300 Pro may not surpass Vivo’s flagship X200 Ultra in every aspect, the new telephoto setup stands out in four areas, stability, speed, clarity, and transparency. It supports CIPA 5.5-level stabilisation, currently the highest rating in the industry, ensuring steady shots even at long distances.

The phone also incorporates a custom focus tracking engine, developed in partnership with external collaborators, which enhances motion capture for subjects that are far away.

In addition, Vivo’s in-house “Blueprint” algorithm works in tandem with the hardware to deliver sharper telephoto photos without relying heavily on AI enhancements.

Thanks to Zeiss coating and upgraded optics, Vivo promises images that are cleaner, more natural, and free from common distortions, while also offering better colour accuracy.

Hardware and imaging upgrades across the X300 series

Beyond the telephoto lens, the Vivo X300 Pro is expected to run on MediaTek’s Dimensity 9500 chipset. Its main camera will be a 50MP Sony LYT828 sensor with a 1/1.3-inch size and strong HDR capabilities. Vivo is also equipping the lineup with its VS1 pre-processing chip and the V3+ dual-core imaging system for further improvements in photography and video.

At its Vision Conference, Vivo teased future AI-driven features for the X300 series, including AIGC-powered landscape creation and personalised beauty modes, showcasing how it plans to integrate AI in more creative ways. The X300 series is expected to launch in October, following MediaTek’s announcement of the Dimensity 9500.
