Vivo V80 India Launch Tipped for October With 10X Portrait Zoom and 4K Cinematic Video Feature

Highlights

  • Vivo V80 tipped for India launch in early October and could be priced above Rs 60,000.
  • Expected camera upgrades include 50MP ZEISS Night Telephoto with 3X optical zoom, 10X Portrait Zoom, and 4K cinematic video with built-in movie-style presets.
  • Specs may feature 6.59″ 1.5K 144Hz AMOLED, Snapdragon 7 Gen 4, triple 50MP rear cameras, and OriginOS 7 on Android 17; Vivo V80 FE also in development.

Vivo could soon add another smartphone to its V series in India. A new report claims that the Vivo V80 is currently in development and may arrive in the country as early as the first week of October. If the information is accurate, the phone could also introduce one of the huge camera upgrades. Here’s what we know so far.

Vivo V80 Could Bring 10X Portrait Zoom

According to tipster Yogesh Brar @heyitsyogesh on X, Vivo is targeting the first week of October for the phone’s Indian launch, although the company has not announced an official date yet.

The V80 is reportedly being positioned as a premium offering with a price tag of more than Rs 60,000.

Vivo V80 Camera Features (Leaked)

Meanwhile, another tipster named Tushar Gupta @TusharG98540565 on X reveals that Vivo is said to be borrowing some imaging technology and features from its more expensive X series for the new V series phone. Among the highlights could be a 50-megapixel ZEISS Night Telephoto camera with 3X optical zoom.

More interestingly, the camera could support up to 10X zoom specifically in Portrait mode. This would let users shoot portraits from a greater distance while retaining the tighter framing typically associated with telephoto cameras. If it arrives as expected, the Vivo V80 could become the first V series smartphone to offer 10X Portrait Zoom.

V80 is also tipped to introduce a 4K cinematic video mode aimed at users who create video content directly from their smartphones.

The mode could allow users to record videos with a blurred background and apply colour grading from within the camera application itself. Vivo is reportedly preparing three movie styles for the feature including Modern Movie, Vibrant and Pastel. These presets should make it possible to achieve a more cinematic appearance without having to rely on separate editing software.

Vivo V80 – Expected Specifications

Apart from its cameras, earlier leaks have also revealed some possible hardware details. The Vivo V80 is expected to feature a 6.59-inch flat AMOLED display with a 1.5K resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate. The phone could use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset. This would mean Vivo is retaining the same processor used in the Vivo V70 rather than moving to a newer platform.

The Vivo V80 is not expected to be the only new V series model. Vivo is also reportedly developing the Vivo V80 FE, although there is currently no information about when the more affordable model will be launched.

Just to recall, Vivo recently launched two different versions of the Vivo V80 Lite across global markets. In Pakistan and Bangladesh, the V80 Lite is essentially a rebranded Vivo S2, while Malaysia received a different version equipped with a massive 10,000mAh battery.

Vivo has yet to officially confirm the V80’s launch date, specifications or pricing.
