Vivo has dropped hints about its forthcoming OriginOS 4.0, which will be officially revealed at the Vivo Developer Conference (VDC) on November 1.
The conference is going to be held at the Exhibition Center in Shenzhen, China.
In the past, Vivo’s developer conference has been a glamour exhibition that showcases several of Vivo’s upcoming innovations.
While specific details about OriginOS 4.0 are scant, industry insiders speculate that it will offer a substantially revamped user interface, along with performance improvements and various feature additions.
It is being speculated for all the right reasons that this new interface will be built on the Android 14 platform and the first of the upcoming devices to debut the UI will be the iQOO 12 and Vivo X100 series.
The Chinese electronics giant is also steadily pushing into the world of IoT (Internet of Things).
Vivo has confirmed that it will also introduce a completely self-developed operating system that has been tuned specifically for IoT devices.
This initiative positions Vivo as a key player in the burgeoning IoT landscape, potentially extending its ecosystem beyond mobile devices.
Given the exponential growth in IoT adoption, this strategic move could pave the way for a suite of interconnected Vivo products in the future.
In a precursor to OriginOS 4.0, Vivo has already rolled out the beta version of Funtouch OS 14 which is also based on Android 14.
This updated OS like previous iterations of FunTouchOS, aims to deliver an optimised user experience through a bevy of feature such as Smooth Envision, which is specifically designed to upgrade system performance and manage RAM more efficiently.
In addition, Funtouch OS 14 introduces the “App Retainer” feature, ensuring that whitelisted apps remain active and aren’t forcibly closed by the system.
Adding to its multitasking capabilities is a “small window” feature, allowing users to run up to 12 small windows in the background simultaneously.
The conference is set for November 1 and will take place at the Exhibition Center in Shenzhen, China.
Though not confirmed, expectations are high for a revamped UI, better performance, and innovative features based on Android 14.
