It appears Xiaomi’s next-generation foldable smartphone is on its way. The upcoming device is also expected to debut the company’s next-generation Xring O3 chipset. Xiaomi has already started teasing the new processor and now to add more speculation, the latest update comes from an official image that shows CEO Lei Jun holding a foldable phone. Xiaomi MIX Ultra Foldable Phone Teased

In the latest image doing rounds online, Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun can be seen holding a foldable smartphone. Tech enthusiasts on social media were quick to notice the burgundy colour foldable smartphone, which is particularly interesting since no other existing Xiaomi foldable phones are available in this shade. This suggests that the phone could be an upcoming model.
There is some uncertainty over the official moniker of the foldable as well.
Previous reports have referred to the foldable using several names including Xiaomi Mix Fold 5, Xiaomi 17 Fold and Xiaomi 18 Fold. Meanwhile, more recent leaks have reportedly started calling it the Xiaomi MIX Ultra.
Anyhow, Xiaomi has not yet revealed the official name of the device.
Xiaomi MIX Ultra – Expected Specifications
The Xiaomi MIX Ultra is expected to feature a large 7.5-inch or 7.6-inch inner foldable display. Other reported specifications include a side-mounted fingerprint sensor and a 200-megapixel primary camera.
The foldable could also pack a battery of around 6,000mAh with support for wireless charging.
On the software side, it is expected to run HyperOS 4 based on Android 17.
Xiaomi MIX Ultra Could Debut Xring O3 Chip
According to reports, Xiaomi could skip the Xring O2 name and move directly from the first-generation Xring O1 to the Xring O3. The new chipset is reportedly codenamed “Lhasa” and Xiaomi has already begun teasing this next-generation Xring platform through an official teaser.
The Xring O3 is expected to switch to a three-cluster CPU architecture, potentially using either a 1+3+4 or 1+2+5 configuration. This would be different from the four-cluster, 10-core architecture used by the previous-generation chip.
The prime CPU core is reportedly capable of reaching speeds of up to 4.05GHz, while the Titanium performance cores could run at up to 3.42GHz. The efficiency cores are expected to reach 3.02GHz. These speeds would represent a significant jump over the Xring O1’s 1.79GHz clock speed.
The GPU is also expected to receive a clock-speed increase reaching around 1.5GHz compared to approximately 1.2GHz on the previous chip. However, the memory speed could remain unchanged at 9,600 MT/s.
Xiaomi Pad 8S Pro May Also Launch
Alongside the Xiaomi MIX Ultra, reports suggest that Xiaomi could also use the new chipset in a tablet called the Xiaomi Pad 8S Pro.
The upcoming tablet is expected to feature a 12.5-inch display and a large 12,000mAh battery. It could be offered with up to 16GB of RAM and feature a 32-megapixel front-facing camera. On the rear, the tablet is tipped to have a dual-camera setup consisting of a 50-megapixel primary sensor and a 2-megapixel secondary camera.
Xiaomi has yet to officially confirm the name, specifications or launch details of the MIX Ultra foldable and Xiaomi Pad 8S Pro. We can expect more details to emerge in the coming weeks.
