Handset maker Vivo has conducted 5G test trials with telecom operator Reliance Jio in a test environment on its X80 series smartphones, which were launched recently. These trials, as per Vivo, showcased lag-free 4K-video streaming on the X80 devices along with super-fast data upload and download. Vivo said it has collaborated with Jio to deliver unmatched customer experience to Indian customers.

The successful testing of the Vivo X80 devices showcased its future readiness and best-in-class capabilities to support the 5G network, enabling an enhanced user experience. It is a step forward in creating a handset ecosystem for the rapid adoption of 5G technology in the country, said Vivo in a statement.

The recently-launched X80 series is the flagship offering from Vivo, focused on capturing the premium-camera-experience market with a smart mix of technology and design aesthetics.

Expressing excitement on the development, Paigham Danish, Director Business Strategy, Vivo India, said, “The customer is at the centre of what we do at Vivo. The X series launched in 2020 is the premium flagship series by Vivo. This series features professional photography capabilities, premium sleek design, and unparallel performance developed on the back of cutting-edge technology.

After launching globally, Vivo recently introduced its premium X80 and X80 Pro smartphones in India. These phones are successor to the Vivo X70 series. Launched in two storage variants, Vivo X80 costs Rs 54,999 for its 8GB + 128GB model, while 12GB + 256GB model of the Vivo X80 is priced Rs 59,999. The Vivo X80 Pro carries the price tag of Rs 79,999 for the high-end 12GB + 256GB version. Vivo X80 Pro has been launched in Cosmic Black colours while the vanilla X80 also is also available in Urban Blue colour options.

Powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9000 processor paired with Mali-G710 10-core GPU, the Vivo X80 sports a 6.78-inch FHD+ E5 AMOLED display with 2400×1800 pixels resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, a 240Hz touch sampling rate, a 1,000nits brightness and MEMC. It has 12GB RAM and 256GB UFS 3.1 storage. The phone boots Android 12 OS with Funtouch 12 custom skin out of the box.

It comes with a triple camera setup, including a 50MP Sony IMX866 primary sensor with OIS support, f/1.75 aperture, LED flash, a 12MP Sony IMX663 ultra-wide lens, and a 12MP 50mm telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom support. It has a 32MP front camera for selfies and video calls.

The 4,500mAh battery is supported by 80W fast charging. Coming to the connectivity features, the Vivo X80 has 5G, Dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, GPS+GLONASS, and USB Type-C. The smartphone is equipped with an in-display fingerprint sensor for security, stereo speakers, and a USB Type-C port for charging and data sync. The phone measures 164.95×75.23×8.30mm and weighs 206 grams.

A 6.78-inch QHD+ E5 10-bit AMOLED LTPO display with a 120Hz refresh rate, 1000Hz instant touch sampling rate, and MEMC, Vivo X80 Pro ships with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor paired with Adreno GPU for graphics. It packs 12GB LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB UFS 3.1 storage. The phone boots Android 12 with Funtouch 12 custom skin out of the box.

With quad camera set up at the back, the Vivo X80 Pro’ camera include a 50MP Samsung GNV sensor, a 48MP ultra-wide lens, a 12MP 50mm 2X portrait shooter and gimbal stabilisation, and an 8MP periscope lens with 5x optical and 60x digital zoom support. The smartphone is equipped with a 32MP snapper at the front for selfies.

There is a 4,700mAh battery with 80W fast charging, 50W wireless charging, and 10W wireless reverse charging. The phone is equipped with an in-display fingerprint sensor for security, USB Type-C audio, and CS43131 Hi-Fi AMP, stereo speakers. Connectivity features of Vivo X80 Pro include 5G, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, GPS (L1+L5 Dual Band) + GLONASS, and USB Type-C.
