Accessible via the search page and within the app’s For You Feed, this addition allows users to dive into lively discussions and trending conversations happening at any given moment
Adam Mosseri, the head of Instagram, emphasized the feature’s role in making it easier for users to catch up with the latest buzz on Threads, mirroring the real-time discussion dynamics found on other platforms like X (formerly known as Twitter).
By introducing trending topics, Threads is addressing a previously noted gap in its ability to provide a real-time sense of community and conversation.
Meta’s AI systems play a crucial role in identifying these trends, considering factors such as the volume of discussion and user engagement with specific topics.
However, to maintain focus and possibly avoid safety and spam concerns, Threads currently limits the display to five trending topics at any time, unlike X, which showcases a broader range.
