Tecno unveils Camon 17, Camon 17 Pro with MediaTek SoCs, 5,000mAh battery and 90Hz display

Transsion Holdings sub-brand Tecno today expanded its Camon series with the launch of Camon 17 Pro and Tecno Camon 17 smartphones in India. Both handsets feature a hole-punch display with the cutout placed at the top centre. While the Tecno Camon 17 Pro sports a 48MP selfie camera, the base model has a 16MP selfie camera. The Pro variant is powered by MediaTek Helio G95 processor, whereas the Tecno Camon 17 is powered by Helio G85 SoC.

As for prices and availability, the new Tecno Camon 17 Pro comes with a price tag of Rs 16,999 for the sole 8GB RAM + 128GB storage model. It comes in a single Arctic Down colour option and the launch offers include free Buds1 worth Rs 1,999 and a 10 percent instant discount on HDFC debit and credit card transactions, including for EMIs.

On the other hand, the Tecno Camon 17 costs Rs 12,999 for the sole 6GB RAM + 128GB storage model. It comes in Frost Silver, Spruce Green and Magnet Black colour options. Launch offers include a 10 per cent instant discount on HDFC debit and credit card transactions, including for EMIs.

The sale of both handsets will start on July 26, during the Amazon Prime Day.

The Tecno Camon 17 Pro boasts a 6.8-inch FHD+ LCD panel with a 90Hz refresh rate. It is powered by MediaTek Helio G95 SoC paired with 8GB of RAM. The phone has 128GB of storage which is expandable up to 256GB via microSD card. It houses a 5,000 mAh battery with 33W fast-charging support.

In terms of optics, the Camon 17 Pro offers a 64 MP primary sensor, an 8 MP ultrawide shooter, a 2 MP bokeh lens, and a 2 MP monochrome sensor. The hole-punch camera cutout houses a 48 MP selfie camera on the front. The Camon 17 Pro also gets a side-mounted fingerprint reader and dual speakers. It ships with Android 11 OS with the HIOS 7.6 skin.
