Sony is all set to launch the Xperia 1 VII on May 13, but leaked marketing images have already revealed pretty much everything about the phone. Here’s what we know about the upcoming phone based on recent leaks.
According to leaked marketing material in a recent Android Headlines report, Sony Xperia 1 VII will come with a 6.5-inch 4K OLED display, a 48MP main camera with OIS, a 12MP ultra-wide camera, a 12MP periscope telephoto lens (70–200mm) and a 12MP front camera.
It also keeps the 3.5mm headphone jack, microSD card slot, USB-C port and dual front speakers.

The display comes with a feature called Sunlight Vision, which improves screen visibility outdoors by adjusting contrast in specific parts of the screen. Sony’s BRAVIA tech uses dual sensors to boost brightness and colour while watching videos. The phone packs a 5000mAh battery that’s built to last up to two days, along with Sony’s battery-saving tools.
The Sony phone supports high-resolution sound for both wired and wireless headphones. It also comes with Sony’s DSEE Ultimate AI technology, which enhances audio quality, especially for compressed music files. You’ll also get support for the LDAC codec, which means better-quality wireless streaming.

The front-facing stereo speakers are now better too, delivering 10% more sound pressure in the low-to-mid frequencies. Sony says it’s using audio components from its Walkman line to power the system.
On the camera front, there’s a new 120mm macro mode (manual focus only) for close-up shots. The phone uses full-size image sensors to improve performance in low-light conditions. The ultra-wide sensor is now 2.1x larger than before.
There are also new camera features like Auto Framing, which tracks your subject and takes both wide and close-up shots at once and AI Camera Work, which keeps the subject centred while stabilising the video. Both features work together in Dual Video Mode to make video capture smoother and more professional.

The leaked material also discloses key details in terms of design.
The Xperia 1 VII has a flat frame, a metal camera bump, a glass back and a textured grip for better handling. Sony is promising four Android version updates and six years of security patches for the phone.
The Xperia 1 VII will be available in three colour options, including black, green and purple.
As for the launch, it will be livestreamed on May 13 at 11 AM JST (7:30 AM IST).
