It is just been days since Samsung unveiled its new slim Galaxy S25 Edge and we are already hearing about a successor. According to a new report, the Korean company might be planning to launch a Galaxy S26 Edge next year and it could even take the place of the Galaxy S26+. The update comes amid reports that the new Galaxy S25 Edge hasn’t exactly been met with overwhelming excitement.

A report from The Elec says that Samsung intends to swap out the Galaxy S26+ with a slimmer Galaxy S26 Edge in its Galaxy S26 2026 lineup.

Keeping the demand and reception of the new S25 Edge aside, this kind of makes sense on paper.

The Galaxy S25+ and S25 Edge have nearly the same screen size and overall dimensions, but the Edge is thinner. It also costs $100 more but gets an upgrade to the same 200MP camera found in the Ultra model. The only real downside is that the Edge has a smaller battery, which is a major concern for many users.

The report reveals that Samsung has just started working on this new “slim” device, but the project depends on how well the Galaxy S25 Edge performs in the market. According to sources from Samsung’s component suppliers, the company has kicked off development of the Galaxy S26 series under the project name “NPA.” For reference, the Galaxy S25 series went by “PA,” which stood for Paradigm.

The NPA project is still in its early stages. Samsung is currently in the process of selecting its first and second-tier suppliers for the components.

Meanwhile, as stated above, this week’s launch of the Galaxy S25 Edge was met with mixed reactions, with many people wondering why the device even exists. The smaller battery is one reason many tech enthusiasts weren’t excited, especially when Samsung’s phones already tend to fall short in battery life compared to the competition.

Samsung’s push toward slimmer phones might pay off over time, especially as battery technology improves. But expecting major changes within a single year might be too optimistic if the goal is to replace a long-standing device like the S Plus series.

As of now, Samsung is targeting 37.7 million Galaxy S25 units to ship this year. Of that, the Plus model has the lowest sales goal at 6.7 million units, while the standard model aims for 13.6 million and the Ultra leads with 17.4 million.
