Samsung has updated its Portuguese website with official support pages for the Galaxy A55, indicating the device’s forthcoming launch.
The pages confirm the model number SM-A556B and storage options of 128GB and 256GB will be available in Europe.
Despite these updates, Samsung has not disclosed the Galaxy A55’s release date.
However, the timing of these developments suggests the launch could occur in the near future, aligning with the mid-March announcement last year of its predecessor, the Galaxy A54.
Recent leaks have provided insights into the Galaxy A55’s design and features.
The device is reported to have a flat back panel and display, with three circular camera cutouts and an Infinity-O display, bearing resemblance to the Galaxy S24’s design.
A notable design aspect is the “Key Island” design around the side buttons, distinguishing it as a mid-range model for 2024.
The Galaxy A55 is expected to be powered by the Exynos 1480 chip, marking Samsung’s first use of an AMD GPU in its processors.
This new chip follows the Exynos 1380 used in the Galaxy A54.
The display size is slightly larger, moving from 6.4 inches to 6.5 inches, without a significant increase in overall device size.
Battery performance for the Galaxy A55 is anticipated to mirror that of the Galaxy A54, which featured a 5,000 mAh battery capable of lasting a full day and supporting 25W fast charging.
Without rumours of enhancements in battery size or charging speed, the A55 is expected to offer similar battery longevity and charging capabilities as its predecessor.
