Samsung is getting ready to launch its next-gen foldables and production has already begun. According to tipster PandaFlashPro on X (formerly Twitter), Samsung has started making both the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Galaxy Z Fold 7 along with their accessories. The company has reportedly stayed on schedule for its May production timeline, setting the stage for an early July launch, likely at an Unpacked event in the US.

Samsung has also started manufacturing foldable OLED panels for both phones. However, the company seems to be scaling back expectations this year, possibly due to weaker demand.

Reports say Samsung is aiming to produce around 3 million units of the Flip 7 and 2 million units of the Fold 7, which together mark a 40% drop compared to the previous generation.

Accessory production is also underway, and there’s even talk of a tri-fold phone coming later this year. That model, however, is expected to be limited to just 200,000 units and will likely be a premium niche device due to its high cost.

Battery Capacities Revealed via Certification

Both foldables have appeared on the UL Solutions Demko certification website, offering insight into their battery specs. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 carries batteries with model numbers EB-BF966ABE and EB-BF967ABE, with capacities of 2,126mAh and 2,146mAh, totalling around 4,272mAh.

That’s slightly smaller than the Z Fold 6, which had a 4,400mAh battery.

The Galaxy Z Flip 7 is listed with EB-BF766ABE and EB-BF767ABE, adding up to 4,174mAh from 1,189mAh and 2,985mAh cells. That’s a small bump from the 4,000mAh battery in the Flip 6.

Both devices are also confirmed to support 25W fast charging, the same as their predecessors, as per a separate 3C certification listing.

Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 – What Else to Expect?

Leaked details suggest that both foldables will run One UI 8 based on Android 16 out of the box. The Z Fold 7 is rumoured to feature a Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, a smoother hinge, a less visible display crease and even a 200MP main camera.

On the other hand, the Z Flip 7 could debut with Samsung’s in-house Exynos 2500 chipset, marking a shift from Snapdragon chips. It’s also said to get a larger 4-inch cover display.

Meanwhile, Samsung is also preparing to launch the Galaxy S25 Edge, which is expected to go official in South Korea on May 13. It will be followed by China on May 23 and other markets by May 30.

Pre-orders have already started in the UK with special offers for early buyers.
