Xiaomi is introducing a fresh smartphone lineup called ‘Turbo’, slotting between its mainstream Redmi and flagship K series devices.
The first model in this new tier, the Redmi Turbo 3, is set for an official unveiling in China on April 10th.
According to Redmi brand manager Wang Teng, the Turbo series aims to offer a step above mid-range performance without the premium pricing of Xiaomi’s top-end K phones.
While lacking the absolute cutting-edge specs, these ‘affordable flagship’ devices should deliver a compelling high-end experience.
Ahead of the launch, Xiaomi has confirmed the Redmi Turbo 3 will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 processor.
This flagship-grade chip from isn’t quite as potent as the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, but still packs a serious punch.
The company claims the Turbo 3 has scored an impressive 1,754,299 points in AnTuTu benchmarks – not far off the top-tier 8 Gen 2 phones.
So while not leading the pack, it should provide smooth performance that most users will be more than satisfied with.
Official teasers also give us a glimpse of the Redmi Turbo 3’s design.
It will feature a triple rear camera setup housed in a circular module.
The renders show the phone will be available in at least three colour variants, though specifics haven’t been revealed yet.
With just a few days until the April 10 debut, more details on pricing, full specs and availability should emerge soon for Xiaomi’s intriguing new ‘Turbo’ contender.
The series seems poised to offer a compelling blend of flagship features at a more affordable price point.
