The Snapdragon X Elite was first unveiled last year as Qualcomm’s ARM-based processor for Windows machines, promising powerful performance and better battery life than traditional x86 chips.
But curiously, not a single laptop using this new chip has actually hit the market yet.
Some rumours suggest one of the first X Elite laptops could be a new variant of Microsoft’s Surface Laptop 6, expected in May.
Qualcomm’s April 24th tease is about a month before that, so we likely won’t see the Surface then.
However, there’s always a chance for other laptop reveals.
In fact, just this week a Lenovo laptop powered by the X Elite chip leaked – the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7 14 Snapdragon Edition.
This could potentially be part of Qualcomm’s upcoming announcement.
There are also whispers about a “Snapdragon X Plus” chip, rumoured to be a scaled-down version of the X Elite, which leaked earlier in April.
Perhaps this model will make an appearance too.
Whatever Qualcomm unveils on the 24th, it’s an exciting time for the Windows laptop space as these new ARM-based processors look to shake things up with better performance and battery life.
Snapdragon X Elite is a chipset developed by Qualcomm for Windows laptops, focusing on delivering more power and improved battery efficiency compared to traditional x86 processors.
Qualcomm unveiled Snapdragon X Elite in late 2023, but until now, no laptops featuring this chipset have been released or announced.
While specifics remain unclear, Qualcomm’s upcoming announcement on April 24 could involve the first laptops to use Snapdragon X Elite, or possibly the introduction of Snapdragon X Plus, a variant of the chipset.
There’s speculation that among the first devices to incorporate Snapdragon X Elite could be a new variant of the Surface Laptop 6, expected in May, although more announcements might be imminent.
Recent leaks have revealed a Lenovo Yoga Slim 7 14 Snapdragon Edition, which is rumored to be powered by the Snapdragon X Elite chipset.
