Qualcomm is going to release its next flagship mobile processor called the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 later this year.
This new chip is expected to have a really good graphics performance based on recent leaks and rumors.
One rumor suggests the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 will be able to run demanding 3D games like Genshin Impact smoothly at 1080p resolution on smartphones.
Genshin Impact is a very graphics-intensive game that requires a lot of GPU power, so being able to play it at full 1080p on a phone is impressive.
The development of this new Snapdragon chip seems to be ahead of schedule.
Qualcomm is aiming to release it in October, right after China’s National Day holiday on October 1st.
This is sooner than initial expectations.
However, there were some previous benchmark leaks that made it seem like the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 might underperform compared to the previous Gen 3 chip.
But those were likely based on early engineering samples, not the final product.
The improved graphics capabilities may come at the cost of higher power consumption though.
Rumours suggest phones with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 could need batteries as large as 6,000mAh to get all-day battery life due to the power demands.
Because of the large batteries required, devices with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chip inside may be a bit thicker and heavier than typical smartphones these days.
Several major Android brands like Xiaomi, iQOO, and OnePlus are expected to launch new flagship phones running on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 shortly after its release in October or November this year.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 is rumoured to offer significant improvements in graphics, potentially allowing users to play intensive 3D games like Genshin Impact smoothly at 1080p resolution on mobile devices.
Qualcomm is targeting an early release for the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, with plans to launch it soon after China’s National Day holiday in October, earlier than previously expected.
Due to the high power consumption associated with its advanced graphical capabilities, smartphones equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 may need batteries as large as 6,000mAh to maintain all-day battery life.
The necessity for larger batteries to support the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 could lead to thicker and heavier smartphone designs compared to current models.
Several leading Android smartphone manufacturers, including Xiaomi, iQOO, and OnePlus, are expected to release new flagship models featuring the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chip in late 2023.
