OnePlus has just dropped a teaser video on X (formerly Twitter) that shows off the full design of its upcoming smartphone, the OnePlus 13s. While the back of the phone was already revealed on microsites for OnePlus India and Amazon, this is the first time we’re getting a clear look at the front as well. Here’s what we know so far.

OnePlus 13s Teaser

The OnePlus 13s features a 6.32-inch display that features a punch-hole cutout for the front camera. The right side of the phone has the volume rocker and power button, while the left side includes a new hardware button. This button is likely customisable, and notably, it replaces the traditional Alert Slider, making it the first OnePlus phone outside China to do so.

Around the back, the phone has a raised dual-camera module paired with an LED flash. The overall design is quite similar to the OnePlus 13T, which is currently available in China. OnePlus has also confirmed that the phone will come in two colours, including Pink Satin and Black Velvet.

The company has already announced that the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset will power the 13s, but other specs are still under wraps.

It also looks like the OnePlus 13s could be exclusive to India, as reports say it won’t be launching in North America or Europe.

What Else Is Expected From OnePlus?

Meanwhile, OnePlus has more phones on the way.

For India, the brand is reportedly working on the Dimensity 8350-powered Nord CE 5, expected to arrive in the first half of this year, along with a more powerful Nord 5.

In China, the company is planning to launch the Ace 5 Racing and Ace 5 Supreme Edition later this month. These devices are said to feature the upcoming Dimensity 9400e and Dimensity 9400 Plus chipsets.

Android’s Material 3 Expressive Details Leaked Accidentally Ahead of Google I/O 2025, Redesign of Battery Icons, Google Clock and More

  • Google accidentally leaked details about Material 3 Expressive ahead of I/O 2025.
  • It highlighted a bold new design direction focused on emotional engagement.
  • The update includes redesigned battery icons in Android 16, a floating toolbar and a refreshed Google Clock app.
  • Tests show users spot key UI elements 4x faster with modernity and innovation perceptions increasing significantly across all age groups.

Google is getting ready for its I/O 2025 event later this month, where it’s expected to talk about Android, Chrome, Google Cloud, Gemini, Android XR and more. But ahead of the event, Google accidentally posted a blog revealing details about Android’s upcoming Material 3 Expressive design language.

Although the post was quickly taken down, it was saved by the Wayback Machine and spotted by 9to5Google. According to the blog, Material 3 Expressive is also called “M3 Expressive” or just “expressive design” and is part of a “bold new direction for design” and is “the most-researched update to Google’s design system, ever.” Here’s what we know after the recent leaks.

Google Accidentally Leaks Android’s Material 3 Expressive design

image

In the now-removed blog post, Google says the main idea behind this new design is to move beyond “clean” and “boring” interfaces and instead build apps that “connect with people on an emotional level.” The key elements of expressive design include colour, shape, size, motion and containment. The update is all about bold visuals and more engaging experiences.

“These design aspects are also fundamental to what makes a product more usable by drawing attention to what matters in the interface: Making key actions stand out, and grouping like elements together,” Google wrote in the blog post.

One of the standout features is a new floating toolbar, a pill-shaped bottom bar that doesn’t stretch across the full screen, allowing some background to show through. This design is already seen in Google Chat, and edge-to-edge visuals are becoming more common.

image

Google’s research shows that users found expressive designs easier to use, helping them spot important actions quickly and navigate faster. The post also noted that expressive design was preferred across all age groups compared to more basic designs, like those that follow Apple’s iOS Human Interface Guidelines.

“… participants were able to spot key UI elements up to 4x faster, showing that these designs work to steer a user’s attention to the most important part of the screen. We’ve seen many apps achieve these levels of improvements, and this extends beyond just eye fixation times. We’ve seen time to tap on key actions decrease by seconds across different designs we’ve tested as well,” the blog post added.

image

“When we look at particular designs, such as the screens for a case study of an email app below, we can see the benefit of expressive principles directly. For example, the Send button in the new design is larger, placed just above the keyboard, and uses a secondary color to draw attention to it. We can compare this to the non-expressive design, which places the small Send button in the top-of-screen toolbar with other controls like attaching a file. When participants were asked to “Send the email” in the app, their eyes saw the button 4x faster in the expressive design,” the blog explains.

Google even found that using M3 Expressive made products seem cooler and more modern:

  • A 32% increase in how “in-the-know” people felt the brand was
  • A 34% jump in perceived modernity
  • A 30% boost in rebelliousness, suggesting bold innovation

Android 16’s Redesigned Battery Icons and Material 3 Expressive Google Clock Redesign Also Leaked

While we are already seeing hints of this new look, Mystic Leaks on Telegram shared images of a redesigned battery icon in Android 16. It now appears horizontally, has rounded corners, and changes colours based on status, red or yellow at 20% (yellow for battery saver) and green while charging, with icons appearing next to it.

The fresh look matches the expressive theme and marks a clear shift from older Android versions.

Mystic Leaks also shared screenshots of a redesigned Google Clock app. Changes include:

  • A narrower pill-shaped bottom bar

  • Tweaked tab icons, with names like “World Clock,” “Alarms,” and “Timers”
  • A new rounded-square FAB (floating action button)
  • Updated UI when editing alarms, with cleaner layouts and a new font
  • More obvious action buttons like “Dismiss”
  • New toggles using Material 3’s on/off switch style

For Timers, you can now set a name right away, and the “play” icon is replaced by a “Start” button. The Stopwatch gets a simplified layout, removing the circular design and replacing icons with large, clear text buttons.

The Bedtime tab hasn’t changed much, and the World Clock screen wasn’t shown. The Clock app is now built entirely with Jetpack Compose, which is Google’s modern toolkit for native UI.

Google is using Material 3 Expressive to clean up its apps and make them more user-friendly. While the designs could still change before the final release, it’s clear that expressive design is going to play a big role in Android’s future.

FAQs

Q1. What is Material 3 Expressive, and how does it change Android’s design?

Answer. Material 3 Expressive, or M3 Expressive, is a bold new design language focused on emotional engagement through colour, shape, motion and containment, making interfaces more visually striking and user-friendly.

Q2. What new UI changes are coming with Android 16?

Answer. Android 16 will introduce a redesigned battery icon, new expressive elements, and revamped Google Clock UI, featuring floating toolbars, tweaked tab icons, and refined usability.

Motorola might have a surprise in store for its fans. While everyone’s been focused on the upcoming Moto G86, a new leak hints that a more powerful Moto G96 is also on the way. Moreover, it could end up being the top-tier model in the Moto G lineup. Here’s what we know so far.

Moto G96 Mentioned

After launching the Edge 60 and Razr 60 series, Motorola is now shifting its attention back to its budget-friendly Moto G series. The Moto G86 was already generating buzz, with its leaked design pointing to a June 2025 launch.

But now, tipster @evleaks on X (formerly Twitter) has revealed that the Moto G96 is also in development, and it’s expected to sit above the G86 in the lineup.

So far, nothing is known about the G96’s specs or design. There’s speculation that it could pack something like the MediaTek Dimensity 7300, similar to the Edge 60. The Moto G86 is rumoured to feature a 6.7-inch 120Hz AMOLED screen and a 50MP main camera, so the G96 may offer even better hardware.

Unfortunately, don’t expect it to launch in the U.S. since Motorola hasn’t released a Moto G series device there since the G100 back in 2021.

As a quick recap, the Moto G85 comes with a 6.67-inch Full HD+ P-OLED display, curved Gorilla Glass 5 protection, a 50MP + 8MP dual camera setup, Snapdragon 6s Gen 3 processor and a 5000mAh battery with 30W charging.

It’s still unclear when the G96 will launch, but it could arrive in late 2025 or early 2026. Some rumours suggest it might compete directly with the Poco X7, which is currently priced at ₹19,499 on Amazon. Realme is gearing up to launch the GT 7 series in India. According to a listing spotted by Xpertpick, both the Realme GT 7 and GT 7T have appeared on the BIS certification database, confirming that their India launch is just around the corner.

The Realme GT 7 is expected to be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9300 Plus processor, paired with 12GB of RAM and Android 15. Realme claims the GT 7 will deliver smooth gaming performance, saying it can run BATTLEGROUNDS MOBILE INDIA at a stable 120FPS for up to 6 hours.

GT 7 Official Teaser Released

However, a recent teaser officially released shared a quick look at what appears to be the Realme GT 7’s rear design.

In the teaser video, the design of the Realme GT 7 doesn’t seem to match with the Neo 7. It somehow makes it clear that GT 7 might not be the rebranded version of the Neo 7 as speculated before. As for colours, it will be available in at least blue and black options.

image

The teaser suggests Realme GT 7 will be a new phone that hasn’t been launched in China.

Meanwhile, re-analysing the GT 7’s Geekbench listing suggests it might feature the Dimensity 9400e instead of the previously expected D9300+. Reports indicate that while the D9400e retains the same CPU and GPU as the D9300+, it could introduce refinements in other areas, potentially enhancing performance and efficiency.

While official specs for the GT 7T are still under wraps, the GT 7 has already launched in China.

If the Indian version keeps the same hardware, it may come with a 6.78-inch OLED display, 2800×1280 resolution, a 144Hz refresh rate and peak brightness of up to 6500 nits. The camera setup could include a 50MP Sony IMX896 main sensor with OIS, an 8MP ultra-wide camera and a 16MP Sony IMX480 front shooter.

In any case, Realme often tweaks its GT series specs for global markets, so the Indian models might have some differences. While Realme hasn’t confirmed the launch date yet, signs point to a possible debut in May.

FAQs

Q1. What are the model numbers of the Realme GT 7 and GT 7T?

Answer. The Realme GT 7 is listed as RMX5061, while the GT 7T appears as RMX5085 in India’s BIS certification database, signaling an imminent launch.

iPhone Launch Schedule About To Change – Apple to Launch Base iPhone 18 in Spring 2027, Months Post Pro Models

0

Highlights

  • Apple will release affordable iPhones in spring and Pro models in Fall starting in 2027, breaking a tradition held since 2011.
  • The base iPhone 18 and iPhone 18e will launch in spring 2027, months after the iPhone 18 Pro and premium models debut in fall 2026.
  • Apple aims to better compete with Android brands and avoid diluted marketing, ensuring each iPhone model gets more attention.

image

Caption – iPhone Launch Schedule will change in future. (Image credit – Apple)

We recently reported that Apple is planning a big change to how it launches iPhones based on the recent report from The Information. Now, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has backed up the update as well. Kuo confirmed that Apple will no longer release all of its new iPhones at the same time in the fall, something it’s done consistently since the iPhone 4s in 2011.

Instead, Apple will start launching its more affordable iPhones in the first half of the year, while keeping the Pro models for the usual fall window. That means, starting in 2027, you’ll see two waves of iPhone launches each year. For example, the base iPhone 18 and iPhone 18e will arrive in spring 2027, while the iPhone 18 Pro and other premium models will land in fall 2026.

2025 will be the final year of the traditional fall lineup. Kuo says we can expect the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max and iPhone 17 Slim (or iPhone 17 Air) to launch in the second half of 2025, likely in September.

Then in 2026, Apple will shift gears. Kuo predicts the iPhone 17e will launch in early 2026, probably in March or April. This would be about a year after the iPhone 16e, which is expected to debut in February 2025.

Later in 2026, Apple will roll out the high-end iPhone 18 lineup. This will include the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, iPhone 18 Slim and Apple’s first foldable iPhone.

However, the regular iPhone 18 won’t be part of that fall launch.

Instead, Kuo says the base model iPhone 18 will launch six months later, in spring 2027, alongside the iPhone 18e. This will be the first time Apple delays the release of a base iPhone model to a different part of the year than the Pro versions.

The same pattern is expected for the iPhone 19 lineup. In late 2027, Apple will launch the iPhone 19 Pro, iPhone 19 Pro Max, second-generation foldable iPhone and iPhone 19 Slim. Then in 2028, the base iPhone 19 and iPhone 19e will follow in the spring.

According to The Information, this shift helps with product marketing and managing production. Apple also wants to better compete with Android brands, many of which launch flagships in the spring.

Kuo agrees, adding that the main reason for the split launch schedule is “to respond to intense competition, especially in China.” By spacing out releases, Apple can better compete with rival phones released in the first half of the year and give each iPhone model more time to stand out.

With Apple now making more iPhone models than ever including new lines like the iPhone 16e and upcoming foldables launching them all at once risks “diluting marketing efforts.” A staggered release helps each phone get more attention, especially the base models that often get overshadowed by the Pro versions.

FAQs

Q1. How is Apple changing its iPhone launch schedule?

Answer. Starting in 2027, Apple will release affordable iPhones in spring and Pro models in fall, breaking the tradition of launching all iPhones together since 2011.

Q2. When will the iPhone 18 models launch?

Answer. The iPhone 18 Pro, Pro Max, Slim and Apple’s first foldable iPhone will launch in fall 2026. The base iPhone 18 and iPhone 18e will arrive six months later, in spring 2027.

Q3. Why is Apple changing its iPhone release strategy?

Answer. Apple aims to compete better with Android brands and avoid diluted marketing by giving each iPhone model more time to stand out. The strategy helps with product marketing and production management.

Apple Reportedly Working on Bigger iPhone Air for 2027, Says Kuo

0

Highlights

  • Apple’s iPhone 17 Air will feature an ultra-thin 5.5mm design and a 6.6-inch display.
  • It is expected to replace the current Plus model with an expected price between $900 and $1000.
  • Apple plans to follow a yearly upgrade cycle, with the iPhone 18 Air in 2026 and a redesigned iPhone 19 Air in 2027, featuring a larger screen.

image

Apple’s upcoming iPhone 17 Air has been rumoured to be called the iPhone 17 Slim previously. It is shaping up to be one of the most eye-catching releases this year, featuring an ultra-thin 5.5mm design. The model is expected to take the place of the current Plus model in Apple’s lineup with the expected price to fall between $900 and $1000.

According to multiple leaked schematics, the iPhone 17 Air will come with a 6.6-inch screen, putting it right between the Pro and Pro Max models in terms of size.

But well-known analyst Ming-Chi Kuo now says Apple is already working on a future version of the Air with an even bigger display.

Kuo believes Apple will stick to a regular yearly upgrade cycle for the Air series. That means we’ll see the iPhone 18 Air in fall 2026 as a spec bump to the iPhone 17 Air. Then, in the second half of 2027, Apple is expected to launch a redesigned version with a larger screen, likely called the iPhone 19 Air.

Kuo didn’t share exact details about how much bigger the screen will be, but earlier reporting from Bloomberg might offer a clue.

In March, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman revealed that Apple had initially prototyped the slim iPhone with a 6.9-inch display, the same size as the Pro Max. However, the company scaled back the design during development, concerned it was too fragile and could bend too easily. Apple didn’t want to risk a repeat of “Bendgate.”

It appears like Apple hasn’t given up on that original idea. The company might finally bring the 6.9-inch slim iPhone to market in 2027.

By then, Apple’s definition of a “large iPhone” will have evolved. The iPhone 19 Slim is expected to debut alongside the second generation of Apple’s foldable iPhone.

There’s a lot to look forward to. Alongside the new Air models, Apple is also planning a major redesign for the Pro models in 2026 and 2027. And for the first time, foldable iPhones are expected to arrive starting in late 2026.

It was previously reported that Oppo has been working on a new budget-friendly Android tablet. Oppo Pad SE – First device with Dimensity G100

According to tipster Digital Chat Station, the Oppo Pad SE may be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity G100, a chip that hasn’t been officially announced yet. Based on the name, it’s likely to be part of a new series that succeeds the Helio G lineup, known for powering affordable smartphones and tablets.

The Oppo Pad SE is expected to launch soon in China, but it might not arrive alone. The tablet is rumoured to be unveiled alongside the Oppo Enco Clip, a new pair of open-ear earbuds. These are said to be similar in design and concept to the Moto Buds Loop and Honor Earbuds Open.

Both the Pad SE and Enco Clip might make their debut alongside the Oppo Reno 14 series, although there’s no official confirmation yet. As always, take these early details with a grain of salt until Oppo makes things official.

OnePlus is gearing up for the launch of its next Nord-series smartphone and the latest leak gives us a clearer look at what to expect. The OnePlus Nord 5, tipped to succeed last year’s OnePlus Nord 4, has just appeared on the TUV Rheinland certification site, revealing its battery capacity and hinting at its charging specs.

OnePlus Nord 5 – Certification

As per a report from The Tech Outlook, the Nord 5 has been listed on TUV Rheinland with the model number CPH2079. While the listing doesn’t directly name the device, the certification is clearly associated with a OnePlus phone.

According to the listing, the OnePlus Nord 5 will feature a 6,650mAh battery, a notable upgrade from the 5,500mAh unit in the Nord 4.

The listing also suggests the device will support 80W fast charging, matching the Nord 4’s charging speed. However, this contradicts earlier reports which had claimed the Nord 5 might support 100W fast charging. It remains to be seen which of these turns out to be accurate.

Besides the Nord 5, the OnePlus Nord CE 5 was recently spotted on BIS and TDRA certification sites, confirming its name. Also, the upcoming OnePlus 13s set to launch in India was seen on BIS with the model number CPH2723.

Considering all this, it’s highly likely that the CPH2079 model seen on TUV Rheinland indeed belongs to the OnePlus Nord 5.

OnePlus Nord 5  – What We Know So Far?
