The Galaxy Watch 8 series might be getting a major design shakeup. According to leaked images from a Samsung app, the upcoming smartwatches could ditch the fully circular design we’ve seen on previous models.

A fresh firmware leak has revealed a lot about the Galaxy Watch 8 and Watch 8 Classic. Along with the many updates in One UI 8 Watch, the biggest buzz is around the design change.

The team at Android Authority found images in the new One UI 8 Watch firmware showing both models, codenamed “Fresh8” and “Wise8.”

Instead of the usual round shape with top and bottom lugs for the watch band, these images show what looks like a “squircle” design. It looks like something in between a square and a circle. However, it closely resembles the design of the Galaxy Watch Ultra.

The display itself is still circular, but the overall shape has a more square footprint. The buttons also stick out a bit more now.

The Galaxy Watch 8 seems to have two buttons, while the Watch 8 Classic comes with three, just like the Galaxy Watch Ultra. It’s not entirely clear from the images how the Classic version will differ from the Ultra, but one possible difference could be the rotating bezel.

Meanwhile, Samsung had already teased a fresh look for its next watch. During its latest earnings call, the company said the upcoming Galaxy Watch would feature a “new” and “innovative” design.

The company said, “For wearables, we will expand our market presence with a strengthened premium experience while expanding our lineup across all price segments. We plan to launch a new Galaxy Watch with an innovative design and enhanced health-related features.”

While nothing is official yet, it’s looking more and more like Samsung is moving away from the classic round design we’ve gotten used to over the years.

Nothing Phone (3) Teased Ahead of Q3 2025 Launch, Could Feature AI-Powered Interface

0

Highlights

  • Nothing has teased the launch of the Nothing Phone (3), set for Q3 2025, with a cryptic post on X.

  • Pricing is reported to be higher than the Phone (3a) models.

image

It looks like Nothing has just teased the launch of its next flagship, the Nothing Phone (3).

The brand so far this year has already launched the Phone (3a), Phone (3a) Pro and CMF Phone (2) Pro. Meanwhile, CEO Carl Pei recently confirmed that it’s scheduled to launch in Q3 2025, which means sometime between July and September.

Now, it seems a new teaser may have just dropped.

Nothing posted a cryptic post on X (formerly Twitter) showing just the number “3” without any caption or context. While it doesn’t reveal much, it’s likely a subtle hint at the upcoming Phone 3. Given the launch is still a few months away, we probably won’t hear about the specs or features just yet.

The Phone (3) will be the direct successor to the Nothing Phone (2), which launched in July 2023. So, it wouldn’t be surprising if the new model lands around the same time this year.

Nothing Phone 3 – What We Know?

Not much has been confirmed about the upcoming Nothing phone as of now, but hints from the brand suggest the Phone (3) could feature an AI-powered platform. In a leaked email, Carl Pei mentioned the phone will deliver “breakthrough innovations in the user interface.”

Back in June last year, he also shared early designs and concepts, including a new AI platform the company has been working on. There’s a chance the Phone (3) could introduce the next version of ‘Essential Space’, an AI hub that first appeared in the Phone (3a) series. This new version might come with more features and even tighter integration into the OS and apps.

Since this is a flagship phone, expect a higher price than the Phone (3a) models. For reference, the Nothing Phone (2) launched in India at Rs 44,999, so the Phone (3) will likely be priced in that ballpark or higher.

FAQs

Q1. When will the Nothing Phone (3) launch?

Answer. CEO Carl Pei has confirmed that the Nothing Phone (3) is scheduled to launch in Q3 2025, meaning it will likely arrive between July and September.

Q2. What new features might the Nothing Phone (3) include?

Answer. The Phone (3) is expected to introduce an AI-powered interface, potentially integrating an advanced version of ‘Essential Space’ for deeper OS and app functionality.

Q3. How much will the Nothing Phone (3) cost?

Answer. While pricing hasn’t been confirmed, it is expected to be higher than the Phone (3a) models, possibly around the price of the Nothing Phone (2), which launched at ₹44,999 in India.

Apple Is Developing Smart Glasses with a Custom Chip, Could Launch by 2027: Report

0

Highlights

  • Apple is developing smart glasses with a custom power-efficient chip.
  • It is expected to support AI-powered features and cameras with a possible launch by 2027.
  • The glasses codenamed “N401” might first arrive as non-AR models with hands-free functionality.
  • Apple is working on chips for AI-powered AirPods, Apple Watch and Macs alongside cloud-based processors.

image

Apple seems to be getting closer to launching its first smart glasses. And while many expect AI to be the biggest tech advancement coming to Apple Smart Glasses, it appears a big part of that effort is a new custom chip in the works.

According to a recent Bloomberg report by Mark Gurman, Apple’s silicon team is currently designing a power-efficient processor specifically for wearable glasses, suggesting the long-rumoured product could be inching closer to reality.

This chip is said to be based on the low-power technology used in the Apple Watch, but even more efficient and compact. It’s also being built to support multiple onboard cameras, which could help scan surroundings and enable AI-powered features. While Apple hasn’t officially announced anything yet, the goal is reportedly to begin mass production as early as late 2026 or in 2027.

With this move, Apple appears to be exploring how it can bring artificial intelligence and powerful computing into lighter, more personal devices. Internally, the company has increased testing of various smart glasses concepts. One idea on the table is non-AR glasses, similar to Meta’s Ray-Ban models. These wouldn’t have full augmented reality visuals but could offer hands-free features like voice control, audio playback and camera access.

These glasses are currently being developed under the codename “N401”, which has replaced an earlier internal name, “N50.” Apple’s strategy seems to echo what Meta is doing, which means getting a head start with simpler smart glasses before AR tech is ready for the mainstream.

Meta, on the other hand, is also working on glasses with a built-in display for release later this year and plans to launch true AR glasses by 2027.

But Apple’s vision for wearables goes beyond just glasses. The company is also working on adding AI-powered features to future versions of AirPods and the Apple Watch. Two other custom chips are in the pipeline, which are “Nevis” for a camera-equipped Apple Watch and “Glennie” for smart AirPods. These products could launch around the same time as the smart glasses, hinting at a broader AI-based ecosystem.

Apple is also continuing to invest in more powerful chips for its Mac lineup. The next-generation processors, expected to be called M6 and M7, are currently in development, along with a high-end chip internally named “Sotra.”

The M5 chip is expected to show up later this year in the updated iPad Pro and MacBook Pro models.

Meanwhile, Apple is also preparing for AI in the cloud. It’s working on server-grade chips under the project name “Baltra” to handle complex AI tasks. These processors will have much higher core counts and will help power the upcoming Apple Intelligence platform by processing AI tasks remotely and sending the results back to users’ devices.

FAQs

Q1. When will Apple’s smart glasses be released?

Answer. Apple is reportedly planning to begin mass production by late 2026 or in 2027, with ongoing development focused on a custom power-efficient chip for wearable AI.

Q2. What features might Apple’s smart glasses include?

Answer. The glasses could feature multiple onboard cameras to scan surroundings, along with voice control, audio playback, and camera access, similar to Meta’s Ray-Ban models.

Q3. How is Apple expanding its AI-powered device ecosystem?

Answer. Apple is working on AI-enhanced AirPods and Apple Watch, developing next-gen Mac chips, and building server-grade processors for cloud-based Apple Intelligence tasks.

Threads Adds Account Warnings When Posts Are Demoted, Starts Testing Video Ads

0

Highlights

  • Threads is introducing the Account Status feature for users to see when their posts or accounts have been penalised, hidden or restricted due to rule violations.
  • Meta is also testing video ads on Threads starting with a limited number of advertisers.
  • Video ads will be featuring formats like 19:9 or 1:1, appearing between regular posts in users’ feeds.

Threads is finally making it easier for users to know when their posts or accounts have been penalised. Meta is bringing the “Account Status” feature to Threads, a tool that shows you when your content has been taken down, hidden, or otherwise limited for breaking the platform’s rules.

View on Threads

This move adds some much-needed transparency, especially since Threads’ recommendation algorithm can be confusing especially for creators. Earlier this year, Meta even changed its stance on political content, reversing last year’s decision to limit posts related to elections and other social topics.

Just like on Instagram and Facebook, Account Status will now let Threads users see any “actions” Meta has taken against their accounts. That includes whether a post was deleted, made less visible in feeds, or marked as not recommended. It’ll also show if certain features were blocked because of a rule violation.

If your account has been penalised, Account Status is where you can appeal. Meta says it will notify users when their appeal has been reviewed.

The feature is starting to roll out now and can be found in the “account” section of the Threads settings menu.

Threads Will Also Start Showing Video Ads

image

Alongside these changes, Threads is stepping up its monetisation game. After beginning to test ads earlier this year, Meta has now announced at IAB NewFronts that video ads are coming to the app.

The company said a “small number” of advertisers will be testing video ads in formats like 19:9 or 1:1, which will appear between regular posts in users’ feeds. Meta didn’t share exact numbers or timelines for a wider rollout.

At the same event, Meta also shared plans to test Reels trending ads, which will be displayed next to some of the most popular videos on Instagram.

In short, Meta is using the same playbook for Threads as it did for Facebook and Instagram pushing more ads, even if it makes the social experience feel a little less personal.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge Latest Teaser Video

Samsung is getting ready to launch the Galaxy S25 Edge next week and Samsung Italy has dropped a teaser video to build the hype. As expected, the teaser mainly highlights just how slim this phone is. The video features a fast-paced sequence of items getting slimmer and slimmer, with the S25 Edge itself showing up briefly at the 10-second mark.

According to leaks, the S25 Edge will be just 5.85mm thick, making it the thinnest Samsung phone ever. It’s expected to come with a 6.7-inch AMOLED display, a Snapdragon 8 Gen Elite for Galaxy chip, a 200MP main camera and a 3,900mAh battery.

S25 Edge To Feature Corning’s Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2

Meanwhile, the Korean brand has finally confirmed what was previously being speculated about the display protection feature of the Galaxy S25 Edge.

It was previously hinted that S25 Edge would debut Corning’s new Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 and now Samsung has officially confirmed it in joint a teaser campaign. This marks the first time we’re seeing this glass in action.

According to Samsung, the display combines “Corning’s advanced glass technology with Samsung’s proprietary processing and reinforcement technologies”, which results in “a sleek yet strong design.”

Corning adds that Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 features crystals “intricately embedded within its glass matrix, enhancing the durability and crack deflection capabilities of the display cover”. The ion-exchange process helps the material become tougher while still looking crystal clear.

Kwangjin Bae, EVP and Head of the Mechanical R&D Team of Mobile eXperience Business at Samsung Electronics, said, “Galaxy S25 Edge will set a new standard for craftsmanship and performance as our slimmest Galaxy S series device yet. To support this breakthrough design, it was essential to develop a display material that was both exceptionally thin and reliably strong — a challenge that brought Corning and Samsung together, united by a shared vision for purposeful engineering and user-centric innovation. That vision is embedded in every detail of Galaxy S25 Edge.”

To add on, Andrew Beck, Vice President and General Manager, Corning Gorilla Glass, said, “With Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2, we’ve achieved a remarkable combination of thinness and strength, giving consumers the best of both worlds — exceptional durability in a modern, sleek and premium design. The craftsmanship of Galaxy S25 Edge with Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 underscores Corning and Samsung’s commitment to meeting the evolving needs of consumers worldwide.”

“All-Day Battery” Claimed in Leaked Marketing Materials

The Galaxy S25 Edge is special for being a super-slim phone. And while reports suggest it packs only a 3,900mAh battery to maintain the slim profile, Samsung’s leaked marketing claims it will offer “all-day battery” life.

This claim comes from leaked images shared by Android Headlines. However, the claim comes with a small disclaimer, which makes us take the information with a grain of salt.

The disclaimer reads, “Actual battery life varies by network environment, feature and apps used, frequency of calls and messages, the number of times charged, and many other factors. Estimated against the average usage profile compiled by UX Connect Research. Independently assessed by UX Connect Research between 2025.03.12-2025.03.20 in US with pre-release versions of SM-5937 under default setting using LTE and 5G Sub6 networks. Not tested under 5G mmWave network.”

Interestingly, the S25 Edge has a smaller battery than the base Galaxy S25, despite having a larger and sharper display. It’ll be interesting to see how real-world performance measures up.
